The Perish Trust art, antiques & amusement... The effort is a textured gathering of home, hearth and old fashioned hospitality.

The Perish Trust is a modern day general store established in 2008 by photo art director, Rod Hipskind and commercial photographer, Kelly Ishikawa with a passion to diligently collect, craft and curate the best well worn homegoods and the most unique, local handywork. With a mix of the patinated old and the curious new we strive to cultivate and promote our mutual and authentic California Heritage. Pioneering retail in the Western Addition/NOPA district in San Francisco, The Perish Trust was at the forefront of whole new ideas in retail forging creative collaborations with Warby Parker Eyewear, Scribe Winery, The Ramen Shop, Meatpaper Magazine, Anthology Magazine, OPEN and Chez Panisse among others.

Meet Marshall Elliott, a visual artist and conceptual sculptor based in Oakland, California. Working across sculpture, installation, and research-based projects, Marshall brings a thoughtful and inquisitive approach to his practice.

For the Hammer Show, he created a collection of hammers using epoxy, cast urethane, hydrocal, and more: exploring the possibilities of a familiar object through an unexpected range of materials and forms.

We’re pleased to share Marshall’s work as part of the Hammer Show, on view at The Perish Trust until November 15th.

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, and now based in San Francisco, Daria Davydova is a contemporary sculptor whose work explores human nature, interpersonal connection, and the hidden corners of the psyche. Drawing from her desire to tell stories through visual form, she often creates expressive faces rich with color, texture, and feeling.

For the Hammer Show, Daria presents: The Hammer of Creation, 2026. A title that invites us to consider the hammer not only as a tool of force, but as an instrument of making. Here we find a way to shape, transform, and bring something into being.

We’re delighted to share Daria’s work as part of the Hammer Show, on view at The Perish Trust through mid-November.

Introducing Parker Thornton.

An artist, photographer, and lifelong adventurer, Parker has spent much of his life making art and following wherever curiosity leads. Originally from Austin, Texas, Parker left in 2021 with a truck converted into a camper and a desire to build a life centered around travel, the outdoors, and making things.

These days, he’s based in Mancos, Colorado, where the landscape continues to shape the way he sees and creates.

For the Hammer Show, Parker brings us this drawing inspired by archaeological examples from Graeco-Roman Egypt. A beautiful, considered take on an object we asked 50 artists to reimagine in their own way.

We’re so happy to present:

Last night was something really special.

The opening of the Hammer Show was an incredible success, and we’re feeling so much gratitude, joy, and excitement for what’s ahead. The evening brought forth more ideas, more possibilities, and more things we can’t wait to build on.

We want to give a very special thank you to a handful of people who helped make the event what it was: Colin Gallagher, who helped facilitate the bar donations including Fort Point B**r Company, Skurnik Wines & Spirits, John Fragola, Madre Mezcal and w**e from Alex Powar; Clare Rose Sullivan, who made the most scrumptious cake; and Brinkley Capriola, Gracie Girl, and Olyvia, who worked the event and held it all down beautifully.

And to every single person who came through our doors last night — thank you. For looking, lingering, chatting, celebrating, supporting, and making the room feel so alive. We’re incredibly grateful.

Sending love to everyone who joined us, and we hope to see many more faces popping into the shop soon to spend some time with the incredible work in the Hammer Show.

It’s been months of quiet moments and loud ones, of contemplation, conversation, and finally, action.

Together, with a remarkable group of artists, many hands, and so much heart, we’re proud to present The Hammer Show.

We want to sincerely thank every single person who contributed along the way — through time and creativity, a kind word, a helping hand, or even a hug. This show exists because of all of you.

Please stop by, take your time, and feast your eyes on The Hammer Show.

Opening tonight, October 2nd and showing through November 15th.

There is a quiet kind of healing that beauty offers.

Sometimes it’s found in the small things—a pearl shaped over time, a piece made by careful hands, a moment that reminds us to slow down and notice what makes the heart sing.

We’re so honored to welcome Adorn Pili to our space for the very first time. Her freshwater pearl jewelry feels both timeless and deeply alive, each piece carrying the gentle reminder that what is formed through patience often becomes the most enduring.

We hope you’ll come discover her work, and maybe leave with a small piece of beauty that helps mend something tender in you.

Welcome, Adorn Pili. We’re so grateful you’re here.

The Perish Trust is growing.

We’re looking for a part-time team member who believes retail can be thoughtful, inspiring, and human. Someone who values beauty, community, and the stories behind the objects we carry.

Retail experience is important — but heart and soul matter just as much.

If you love working with people, appreciate local artists, and want to be part of something intentional in San Francisco, we’d love to hear from you.

Please email your resume and a short note about yourself to [email protected]

Letting the light in: part two

Inspiration strikes when we see the beautiful way sunlight bends around everything it touches. It’s warm offering of a hug. The flecks of light dancing through a tree. In this case, we seize the opportunity to highlight a new artist in the shop- Daniel Dooreck. In his ceramics we find ourselves giving into the playful splash of joy it invokes, and the warmth it embodies. Daniel is an LA based artist with a studio he lovingly calls, The Mud Shop. Come in, say hello, and let us introduce you to
