Become a Part of Figurative Tapestry! Our founder, Marcus Guillard and Libby Carruth of Site|Matter studio were selected for a permanent public art installation in West Oakland. Their concept, Figurative Tapestry, will hold silhouetted portraits of community members in layered metal panels.

Portraits will be gathered through community recommendations and free, professional public photo sessions. The portraits start with you. Join the first community photo session on Friday, May 29, from 4:30 to 7 pm.

Come celebrate. Come be seen. Look for the Figurative Tapestry tent at 3501 San Pablo Ave, Oakland.

Since 2013, Friends of Hoover Durant Public Library has been organizing to bring a library back to the Hoover-Durant, McClymonds, Pill Hill, Mosswood, Western Longfellow, and Clawson neighborhoods. This grassroots, volunteer-run nonprofit is vital to the culture, education, and welfare of our diverse communities.

On April 14, 2026, the City of Oakland will hold a special meeting to review the purchase of the Community Market site for the Hoover Durant Branch Library. That is just seven days away.
