One of our design secrets for creating effortlessly modern looks is working with the more nuanced parallels between the artwork and the framing.
There’s often a tendency to build on the obvious, for example, looking to match a dominant color. While that approach certainly has its place and effect, drawing from the more subtle tones creates greater depth and intricacy.
With this original landscape by artist Nazarii Medvid, our client wanted a gold float frame. However, the true beauty of this design lies in the dark red wash along the side of the frame. It beautifully reflects the red-toned blacks within the painting. Considering that black paint almost always leans in a tonal direction (as achieving a true black requires a perfectly balanced paint mixture), this is a particularly delectable color pairing.
Plus, who doesn’t love a gold-leafed frame?
