A look back at our living room in the Marin Designers Showcase: the Michael Taylor “Frog Chair” was upholstered with a vintage Valentino jaguar coat from the late 1960’s, and the commode is one of pair of walnut, ivory and ebonized Louis XIV concave block front Italian commodes from the late 17th century.

A look back at our rooms in the Marin Designers Showcase: cobble-textured silk Suzanne Tucker Home curtains speak to the view beyond the study where wicker chairs surround a fossil-stone table.

Travel inspo: In the town of Pyrgi on the Greek island of Chios, local craftsmen have carved geometric ornamentation into the lime plasterwork since time immemorial. Covering every surface – from pillar to post office – the xysta patterns have a tangled and opaque history.

In the entry gallery of this contemporary apartment, Anish Kapoor’s Random Triangle Mirror makes a dominant opening statement: an active visual and acoustical presence, it reflects its surroundings, appears different from every angle, and bounces sound waves off its faceted tympanic surface. Installed above a highly polished vintage French sideboard from the 1970s, it also offers a fascinating contemporary twist on the classic front entry vignette of mirror and console.

In the entry gallery of this contemporary apartment, a swath of quiet limestone outlined with black marble accents creates calm underfoot so that the art by Milton
Resnick comes to the fore. The porcelain discs of Lindsey Adelman’s light fixture echo the
floor’s luminosity, the sconces by Hervé Van der Straeten add to the reflective glow,
and the iron stools by Philippe Anthonioz bring the space back down to earth.

Born in Romania in 1876, Constantin Brancusi lived and worked in Paris from 1904 until his death in 1957, and this is where he produced most of his work. In his will, he bequeathed his entire studio to the French state. An exact reconstruction of this was made in 1997 on the piazza opposite the Centre Pompidou to house his collection, consisting of 137 sculptures, 87 bases, 41 drawings, two paintings and over 1600 glass photographic plates and original prints.
