Got inspired to do some DIY art on an oversized canvas last night!
Still crushing on these desert šµcolors, and kinda swiped all the left over desert paint colors I had on this canvas.
When I was first starting out in design I would do so much DIY art and had some huge wins and some even larger misses. But sometimesā¦.the ones that seemed like misses ended up being the happy accidents that clients loved the most.
A great reminder to find the deliciousness in the imperfect.
I was aiming to have a very linear piece, with straight lines of black dots - using a laser level. But as it got close to midnight, I started getting lazy and winging it. Then some of the paint started to runāand I started to think, this may need to be completely re done.
When I stood back and saw the drips and the uneven lines- I thought fawwwkkkk I ruined it. I started talking mean to myselfā āNoelle, why are you always in such a damn rush. Why couldnāt you be more patient. What a waste of time,ā and then, as if on cueā my almost 17 yo son walked in. Who by far, is my hardest critic when it comes to anything design, and he said āWow. I really like that! It reminds me of the cover art for futureās hndrxxā
And I said, āā¦but I messed it up. Look how crookedā¦and the dripsā and he said, āThatās what makes it cool.ā
So itās staying. Right in my bedroom, to remind me that the imperfect, the drips, the unevenness-is what makes us all coolšŖ
