We designed this whimsical ladybug watercolor in a stacked frame floating on our in house white rag mat. The outer frame is a Painters Place original rift sawn white oak moulding on top of a baby blue block stem from their “Confetti II” collection. The soft inner frame and natural wood frame beautifully pull out the cool background tones, making the vibrant red and yellow ladybugs instantly pop!

“Floating Hope” 2024
Handmade pigments on panel

This piece, painted by Oakland-based contemporary visual artist Rupy C. Tut, employs intricate brushwork utilizing mineral and plant-based pigments ground by hand.

We framed this piece in a heavily textured (almost cement like), dark gray floater stem by from their “Stanley” collection to complement the organic nature of this vibrant botanical painting.

“Cool, Clear II”
Limited Edition Giclée

The dark, black walnut shellac finish on our Painters Place custom milled, thick wedge stem creates a classic, larger than life feeling against this color blocked limited edition giclée print. The reddish tones within the finish and the natural wood grain really pull those rich, deep satin hues of the horses coat, allowing the bold background colors to stand out, encompassing the two subjects.

The clean white matting and subtly textured champagne-colored provide a sophisticated contrast that draws the eye directly to the playful, minimalist line work of the whimsical illustration. This striking portrait utilizes a Fauvist-inspired palette of bold greens, oranges, and yellows to transform a classic female n**e into a vibrant and emotionally charged piece of abstract expressionism.

We floated this piece on a vivid white rag mat board allowing the watercolor to stand brightly alone, merging into the white of the beveled frame. We then chose a two-toned black and white stem by from their “Dune” collection, highlighting the dark strokes of the subjects hair and eyes.

The jigsaw comic shown is Wonder Woman # 265, published by DC Comics in March 1980.
The cover art, created by Ross Andre and Dick Giordano, features the main story, “Land of the Scaled Gods”. In this Bronze Age adventure, Diana Prince and a fellow astronaut are pulled into a hidden valley in the Rocky Mountains populated by dinosaur-like aliens while on a space shuttle test flight.

We felt the only way to fully frame this piece with justice was to fight bursts of color with bursts of color! We stacked a aqua green stem with a deep bevel on top of a “Small Sunshine”, chevron patterned, bright yellow inner frame from their Parade collection. The juxtaposition between the frames and the Wonder Woman text almost feels like they were meant to be! Protecting the art is Optium Museum Acrylic which is 99.9% UV protection, shatterproof, scratch resistant, half the weight of glass, and non-glare.

Baobab trees, know as the “Tree of Life,” are massive, long-lived, succulent trees native to African Savana’s, symbolic of resilience, fertility, and survival. They hold thousands of liters of water, providing food and shade.

This watercolor painting of an ancient Baobab tree is elegantly displayed floating on a beige mat, displayed in our Painters Place gray wash finish, knife edge frame. Floating watercolors creates a sophisticated gap between the artwork and the wood, giving the piece a sense of depth and modern presentation.

Russell Chatham
“Gibbon River”
Artist proof original lithograph

Russell Chatham(1939-2019) was a renowned American landscape artist and author who became celebrated for his luminous, atmospheric paintings of the Montana and Northern California wilderness, often capturing the subtle light of dawn and dusk.

We designed this ethereal print floating on a soft white rag mat with matching shadowbox walls. The finish on our Painters Place “kaiser top” stem is a grey wash that beautifully complements the gentle, soft tones throughout the lithograph. Protecting this piece from fading is Optium Museum Acrylic which is 99.9% UV protection, shatterproof, scratch resistant, half the weight of glass, and non-glare.
