Some pieces are just special… not only because they’re beautiful, but because of the story, tradition, and hands behind them. We are so thrilled to now be carrying Santa Rosa Candles at Basalt.

Handcrafted in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, these candles have been made using time-honored techniques for generations. Each one is slowly created by hand, building layer upon layer of wax around a central wick. Genuine amber, crystallized tree sap, is infused into the wax, creating the warm golden color and beautiful glow that makes these candles so distinctive.

For generations, Santa Rosa Candles have illuminated churches, cathedrals, home altars, and celebrations throughout Mexico. Each is finished with the iconic gold Santa Rosa emblem, a nod to the history and tradition behind the family-run workshop where they are still made today.

We have always believed that the things we bring into our homes can be more than simply beautiful. We love pieces that have a sense of place, a story to tell, and evidence of the hands that made them — and these candles embody all of that.

Unscented, smokeless, dripless, and incredibly beautiful lit or unlit, they’re the kind of everyday object that somehow makes a space feel a little more special.

I often collect special pieces, not knowing exactly where they will find their home. There’s something so satisfying about finding that corner where a piece suddenly belongs, defining a moment that feels completely intentional.

A home of this scale didn’t need more. It needed intention.

We thoughtfully curated each space to honor the home’s Cali-Mediterranean architecture while bringing in a quieter, more collected point of view allowing the incredible views to remain part of every room.

Sculptural silhouettes. Aged woods. Natural textures. Found objects. Oversized botanicals. Pieces sourced and selected specifically for the scale, architecture, setting and feeling of each space.

Creating moments, framing the view, and allowing someone walking through to imagine a life here.

Life’s simplest, yet most essential luxury…the bed.

The bed is everything. It’s where we begin and end each day. It’s where we retreat, dream, heal, connect, and rest. It’s where we welcome guests and where we tuck our little ones in at night, keeping them warm, safe, and loved. As they grow, we hope it remains a place that makes them excited to come home and sleep in their own bed.

When Cal Poly parents wander into the showroom after moving their young adults into college, I encourage them to leave with a soft pillowcase. It’s offering a little peace of mind, knowing when they finally get some rest, they think fondly of home.

A beautifully made bed is more than layered linens and perfectly placed pillows. It’s a warm hug. A symbol of love, comfort, gratitude, and belonging.

After years of planning and executing every design detail of a project—the floors, cabinetry, paint, stone, tile, lighting, and millwork—the greatest satisfaction is dressing the beds at the end of installation day.

Success isn’t measured by a photograph. It’s measured by the moment my daughter flops onto a freshly made bed with pure joy. Years ago, she looked at my husband and said, “Daddy, you’re so lucky you married Mommy. She knows how to make a really good bed.”

He laughed, gave me a flirty wink, and replied, “Yes, babe. That’s exactly why I’m lucky.”
