Raymond Residence — Toms River, NJ

A split-level home transformed through light, material, and a stronger connection to the surrounding woods.

The kitchen became the heart of the house, original wood floors were restored, new bathrooms were introduced, and larger openings brought the landscape into the interior. Wood, stone, black finishes, and natural light create a calm but very distinct identity.

For me, design has no limits — I love discovering what a house can become when creativity is allowed to lead.

Southeast House
Before there is architecture, there is an idea.
Before the idea, there is intuition.
And sometimes, you simply know.

It started with a vision. Then, we built it.

There’s something magical about looking back at the beginning — when a home exists only in drawings, imagination and raw structure — and seeing what it eventually became.

From timber to architecture.
From structure to home. 🤎

The kitchen at Southeast House, Point Pleasant.

Luis and I designed this kitchen around something we both love: honest materials, clean lines, and warmth without excess.

The floors are real polished concrete—not porcelain made to look like concrete—with radiant heating underneath, something we especially wanted for the colder New Jersey months.

For the cabinetry, we chose a warm walnut veneer, balanced by Dekton across the countertops, island and backsplash. I love the contrast between the depth of the walnut and the quiet, almost monolithic quality of the stone.

It’s a very simple kitchen, but every material was chosen intentionally. Nothing is there just to decorate. And perhaps that’s what I like most about it—it feels calm, warm and meant to be lived in.

THE SOUTHEAST HOUSE

Some homes are built.

Others are thoughtfully imagined.

The Southeast House was designed and built by Erika Winters Design as a contemporary waterfront residence where architecture follows the rhythm of family life.

Conceived around two private wings connected by light-filled living spaces, every room, every window, and every view was intentionally placed to create a seamless dialogue between the home and the water.

From custom-crafted architectural details to radiant heated concrete floors, every element was carefully considered to create a residence that feels modern, timeless, and deeply connected to the way its owners live.

More than a house, it is a home designed to bring people together.

Amsterdam 307: A Refined Retreat in La Condesa

Nestled in vibrant La Condesa, Amsterdam 307 was reimagined for a young, modern couple who live between travel and home. This thoughtful renovation embraces natural materials—wood, metal, glass, and stucco—blending simplicity with elegance.

Ceilings were lifted to reveal illuminated beams, adding height and lightness. The layout features two serene bedrooms with walk-in closets, a sleek open kitchen with black marble and fluted glass details, and a cozy family room that bridges public and private spaces.

Custom touches like a sculptural cube in the powder room, warm walnut floors, and cylindrical stucco columns elevate the design. A reoriented glass façade creates visual harmony with the ceiling structure, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living.

Follow us for more timeless transformations like this one—crafted for how people really live.

This House stood strong last week in the Pacific Palisades wildfire that tore through Los Angeles, leaving devastation in its wake. This residence designed by architect Greg Chasen, survived thanks to smart design choices and fire-resistant materials.
Here’s how it withstood the flames:

✅ Fire-Safe Materials
* 🧱 Solid concrete walls blocked flames and provided a strong foundation.
* 🛡️ A metal roof with fire-resistant underlayment stopped embers from penetrating.
* 🪟 Tempered glass windows didn’t shatter under extreme heat, keeping fire and smoke out.
* 🌾 Defensible space: No vegetation near the house + concrete garden walls.

✅ Smart Design
* 🚫 No eaves, overhangs, or attic vents that could let sparks in.
* 🔒 Airtight construction stopped embers from sneaking inside.
* 🌬️ Special ventilation systems filtered out smoke, keeping the air safe to breathe.

This house shows what’s possible with thoughtful residential design and a focus on resilience. It’s also inspired us to design and build a wildfire-resilient, solar-powered home in throughout Los Angeles and the rest of southern california.
