Please pause and lift up those in the path of Hurricane Isaias. The hurricane is expected to make landfall along the panhandle of Florida. We have grown to love this area over the past four years as we've spent time there during our "gathering season." We are praying for the safety of all and for minimal impact on the beaches, homes, and businesses. Thank you.

It's FALL y'all! I've had fun creating these pieces and using some of the colorful stones from Puerto Rico. The "bats" are sand dollar doves dipped in black paint. The ghosts are pieces of pottery, also from PR. I used crushed sea glass pieces for the leaves. Dried weeds add the accents.

I was running low on dried seagrass for my wildflower and bird designs. Who knew I'd find the perfect weeds in my sister-in-law's backyard in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin! It's a long ways from the ocean, but I achieved the look I wanted! What do think?

Thank you Wilmington! We had a very successful festival! It was so nice to see repeat customers as well as meet new ones. I always appreciate the compliments on my art! We'll be spending a few days gathering new materials from NC beaches, then it's back to the studio to prepare for upcoming markets. Next up: Sanford Farmers Market on Saturday, October 3rd!

Some of the turquoise colors we found on the beaches in Puerto Rico make incredibly lovely winter trees. My technique is simple: 1.Select colors that are similar in shade. 2. Put in bubble wrap packs. 3. Crush by hammering until pieces are desired size. 4. Glue onto canvas using tiny tweezers, adding accent colors until you get the look you want. It takes a long time to get the right look. Lots of patience. This one took almost six hours to complete. I'm pleased with the results.

UPDATE: Both of these pieces sold! Ihit the jackpot at a local thrift store when I found these gorgeous frames matted in shades of blue! It didn't take too long to decide what designs would work best. These are definitely one-of-kind pieces! They're ready to go to Wilmington next Friday for the American Craft Walk!
