The biggest mistake we see in flooring projects…

Installation Matters More Than the Brand

When it comes to flooring, many people focus on the brand name or the price of the material. In reality, proper installation often matters more than the product itself.

We frequently see projects where homeowners spend up to $15 per sq. ft. on premium flooring, but then try to save money on installation or adhesive. Unfortunately, that’s where many problems begin.

From years of experience in the flooring industry, one approach we strongly recommend—especially for wider and thicker planks—is full glue-down installation.

Why?

✔ Helps control moisture movement from the subfloor
✔ Reduces floor movement and squeaks
✔ Improves sound control compared to floating or nail-down installations
✔ Provides a more solid and stable feel underfoot

No matter what plank width or thickness is used, proper glue-down installation can make a significant difference in long-term performance.

Our advice is simple:

It’s often better to choose a reasonably priced floor and invest in proper installation and high-quality adhesive, rather than spending everything on the brand name and cutting corners on installation.

Important Tip When Installing SPC Flooring Over Concrete

“Water from above isn’t the problem. Moisture from concrete is.”

Concrete slabs may look dry, but they constantly release moisture v***r from the ground below. Over time, that moisture can affect the flooring system.

That’s why we always recommend installing 6-mil polyethylene plastic as a v***r barrier before installing SPC flooring on concrete.
