Have you ever seen old furniture at a thrift shop and thought, “I wonder if that’s more valuable than the price?...” It might be. Your first hint: open the drawer.

The joints, nails, screws, hardware, repairs, and how the drawer moves can tell you how the piece was built, what has been replaced, and how much has changed over time.

Save this before your next estate sale or send it to someone who loves thrifting antique furniture.

Age isn't the only thing that determines value. Neither does a signature, a family story, or the fact that something “looks expensive.”
The most valuable pieces have several things working together: condition, materials, maker, market demand, and provenance.

This is a good checklist to save for the next time you’re sorting through inherited items, shopping an estate sale, or wondering whether something may be worth consigning.

And if you know someone who is cleaning out a house, send this to them before they start guessing what should stay, sell, or donate.

A 1974 Bulova Accutron in its original box, with a sterling silver Brutalist case, 14k gold detail, tropical dial, and the original mercury battery still tucked alongside it.

The tuning fork movement is what makes Accutrons so interesting. Battery powered, but with a smooth sweep that feels much closer to an automatic than a standard quartz watch.

Still needs to be tested, but visually, this one already has plenty going for it.

At the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, shared that roughly half the watches he buys come from other dealers.
That might sound surprising, but it explains a lot about why certain watches never seem to make it to listings, marketplaces, or public sales.

A customer at our Spring Sale last weekend recognized a rare Ben Ortega carving as the work of his own grandfather. This is the kind of thing that makes the gallery feel alive in a sense. The amount of history and stories that are housed here truly makes it what of a kind.
