Our next public workshop is happening Oct 10-11 with Moon Horse Ranch
In this workshop you will learn ALL the steps to make your own adobes (including how to make the forms, screens, how to test the soil…). This will be followed by a Horno Building workshop in the Spring, itself followed by a Horno feast in May!

We spent two Thursday–Friday sessions this July in Gallina, working with a crew of about eight youths to build a community horno from the ground up for the San Joaquín del Río de Chama Land Grant. The finished oven measures 84 inches across — a big one, built to feed a community rather than a household — and it will serve as part of the Land Grant’s community kitchen.

Earlier this spring, we were invited by the Language Program at the Santa Fe Indian School to lead multi-week workshop re-building the horno with students. We integrated a decorative circular arch into the design of the wall wrapping the working area.
