Most people think they’re the problem.

That they need more discipline.
More organization.
More focus.

But what if the real issue isn’t you?

What if your home is asking too much from your body—every single day?

After 25+ years designing real homes, I’ve seen it over and over again:
Spaces are created to be seen… not lived in.

And the body feels it.

Subtle things—light, layout, materials, sensory load—quietly shape how you feel, think, and function.
Not occasionally. Constantly.

This is exactly what my Wellness in Design book is about.

Not trends.
Not aesthetics for the sake of appearance.
But practical strategies to create a home that actually supports you.

Because when your space works with your body… everything else becomes easier.

If this resonates with you—
comment WELLNESS and I’ll send you the link to the book.

Casa Naila, designed by Alfonso Quiñones, is a coastal residence located in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. The project is positioned directly along the Pacific shoreline, responding to climate, exposure, and landscape.

The house is composed of a sequence of linear concrete volumes arranged perpendicular to the ocean. These parallel walls define open air rooms between them, allowing cross ventilation and unobstructed views toward the sea. The structure operates as a series of frames, where enclosure is minimized and space is defined by rhythm and orientation rather than walls.

Material expression is reduced to exposed concrete, allowing the building to withstand the coastal environment while maintaining thermal stability. The open plan and sectional clarity enable continuous airflow, aligning the spatial organization with local climatic conditions.
