A former restaurant space in Santa Monica has been transformed into an engaging installation for the new Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen. The colorful artwork takes inspiration from the street graphics and graffiti of the South Asian subcontinent, where abundant signage and bold imagery dominate urban streets.

A large-scale wallpaper depicting a hand-drawn sketch of an urban food street in Delhi's old quarter creates a striking backdrop for the high-ceiling dining space, which overlooks the building's tall storefront windows.

The colorful artwork, in a poster style, at the bar and in the hallway incorporates native typography, using overlapping Urdu and Hindi scripts commonly seen throughout the region.

ICE RINK - UNION SQUARE SAN FRANCISCO

The globally recognized Union Square public open space in Downtown San Francisco will once again host the annual ice skating event, which opens in early November. Positioned next to the Dewey Monument and the giant Christmas tree, the six-thousand-square-foot ice rink will take center stage in the square, offering visitors and the city’s residents a unique entertainment experience.
Our design team is working closely with the producer W***y Bietak Productions to create this memorable festive venue.

Modern Blend
Seal Beach Residence

The client wanted to update his look and layout of his 1950s house in Seal Beach, Southern California. The home sits on a corner lot across from a large green space. Because the house had several poorly planned additions in the 1980s, there were several options to open up the interiors and improve the design.

Outside, the flat roofs and blue composite-wood siding, combined with smooth plaster, will give the house a modern unified look. All the old windows will be replaced with simple awning and casement windows to strengthen the contemporary style. The green space around the house will become a well-designed outdoor area for entertaining and landscaping.

Inside, the old, cramped layout will be replaced with bright, open spaces by removing walls and connecting rooms. The lower level will become an open kitchen, dining, and living area, suitable for entertaining. Upstairs, the boxed-in bedroom will be turned into a primary suite with better function and views. The suite will also have a second-floor terrace facing the park and overlooking the green roof above the existing kitchen.

The interior will feature warm hardwood floor, accent paint colors, and upholstered furniture with rich textures.

Construction is planned to begin in Fall 2026.

The proposed residential unit is for a quaint neighborhood in the costal town of Seal Beach, Southern California. Strict planning constraints required working with the triangular site and the underlying footprint of a three-car garage that had to be maintained.

The unit’s design embodies a strong contemporary vernacular, incorporating sustainable materials.

Our design for a rolling food cart serving chaat, a popular South Asian street food, draws inspiration from the region’s colorful street graphics. The vibrant cart adds a theatrical feel to the table side performance of mixing flavorful ingredients and presenting the dishes to diners.
