I have always had a love for making homemade gifts for others. The energy that I put into making something for another person and then seeing a smile or hearing a heart felt, "thank you," is priceless to me. Busying my hands gives me comfort and focusing on crafts eases my mind. Over the years I have tried out all different types of handwork. I usually get really fired up when I learn a new craft,
make things for days and then settle down and forget about whatever it was that I was so excited about making in the first place. For the first time in my life, I have been able to really focus on my crafting ability and purpose. Becoming a mom has been the biggest blessing in my life. My girls are my teachers and I learn from them daily. Watching my toddler play, interact with her toys and explore her imagination has prompted my passion for crafting toys. It started out with me just wanting to make beautiful, well made, non toxic toys for my children. One thing led to another and I found myself over my head in wood, yarn, wool and tools. Sleepless nights and non stop thinking about what I could make next has drove me to a new level. I just couldn't stop myself and I am still going strong! It gives me such pleasure and satisfaction knowing that the toys that I make are safe and foster growth, imagination and meaning. The philosophy of Waldorf education is something that jives with me so well. It makes sense to me and the philosophy has helped shape the items that I have been making. I consider the toys that I make to be "Waldorf Inspired" because I have learned from people and books that are related to the Waldorf philosophy.Wood, wool, silk and beeswax are my main ingredients along with love. The list of materials that I use is pretty short, but with these materials, possibilities are endless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you feel a bit of inspiration or at least feel a hint of warmth as you see my crafts and visit this page.
