Give your new plants a fighting chance from day one.
Florida soil is naturally sandy and often low in nutrientsāwhich is perfectly fine for many of our native and Florida-Friendly plants once theyāre established.
But when Iām putting in new plants, I like to give them a little help getting started.
I add about a handful of Espoma Organic Plant-tone to the planting hole, mixing it into the soil before planting. It provides a gentle dose of nutrients while the plant begins developing new roots and settling into its new home.
Those first few weeks are all about root establishment. A healthy root system helps your plant take up water and nutrients and better handle the stress of its new environment.
Think of it as a little boost to help your new plants get their feetāor roots - under them.
Strong roots. Healthy start. Better chance of success.
