Styling your table helps set the tone for any occasion.
Creating a beautiful tablescape is like creating a centrepiece of your home.

We’ve gathered together an amazing group to share some Autumn hinspiration.

This autumn tablescape is a true love letter to my grandparents, woven together on my favorite thrifted table. Atop each plate rests a fresh pear tied with a sweet bow, sitting beautifully on a serviette passed down from my grandfather and lovingly crocheted by my grandmother 60 years ago. Their legacy anchors the entire room, framing a tiny, homemade pear cake and a vintage dough bowl of pumpkins reflecting softly in the stacked mirrors behind us.

I don’t follow trends. I hunt for character.

I’ve always been the sort of girl who collects things slowly, waiting for the right piece to come along at the right price.

A $25 chandelier from Marketplace, a tabletop Deary made for me, old frames and mirrors found for next to nothing, and architectural salvage pieces that other people might walk straight past.

Sometimes it’s a little shop closing down, a forgotten treasure on a clearance shelf, or something someone else doesn’t quite understand the value of.

I’ve learned that creating a home you love is often a waiting game.

You have to be willing to look, imagine, and occasionally bring home something that makes Deary wonder where on earth I’m going to put it! 😂

So much of our home has been made, found, rescued, or given to us for free.

In the dining room, I have layered old frames and mirrors above the sideboard, some with mirrors inside and some without.

Then there’s a simple crate of old books sitting on top, because apparently even my books need a little elevation!

I often get asked about this arrangement, so I thought I’d bring you in for a closer look.
I don’t need everything to be new, and I certainly don’t need everything to be on trend.

I just want a home that feels collected, a little whimsical, and full of character.

Be patient and enjoy hunting.

One little shelf wasn’t enough…

The first time, Deary made me a simple peg shelf, but then I got a little more ambitious!

I asked him if he could make it a bit more elaborate, so he asked me to draw him a sketch and give him some measurements. Then he got to work!

He even made two little corbels to support the shelf, adding that extra touch of old-world charm I love so much.

I wanted it to feel as though we’d stepped back in time, into a little cottage with a story to tell.

And now, one of my favourite things is styling my entryway differently for each season. 🍂

I only meant to move one little thing …

Sometimes the house just needs a little rearranging.

I’ll get up and move a lamp over here, a book stack over there… tuck a candle somewhere it wasn’t yesterday.

Then perhaps a pumpkin.

Fluff the flowers.

Put a little wreath on the door.

Stack a few old books and perch a sweet little candle on top.

Add a mushroom or two, because apparently the house needed mushrooms.

And I do love a suitcase.

A little trio of hats on the wall… a swan or goose sitting proudly on top of a stack… a whimsical bow tied around a pumpkin for no particular reason at all.

That’s the fun of autumn to me.
It feels like the house becomes a little wonderland of layers and colors and curious little things.

And you don’t have to do it all. Goodness, you certainly don’t have to make your house look like mine. 😂

Just take a little idea here, another one there, and make it your own.
Move something.

Try something somewhere else.
Add a color you love.
Put the little odd thing out where everyone can see it.
Sometimes decorating isn’t about buying a thing.
Sometimes you just need to get up and have a little wander around your own house.

You know what else it feels good too. It feels good to get up and start moving, and especially when you move things around. It’s like a whole new house.😆.

Escape into my cozy cottage!

I sometimes can’t help, but share a little Christmas inspiration.

Even in the middle of fall, there’s something about twinkling lights, vintage curiosities, ornaments and cozy little corners that never go out of season.

Time to pop on the kettle and enjoy a sprinkle of Christmas magic, please feel free to share with anyone who loves a little bit of nostalgia.

Some days just call for this… 🍂

Socks on, a little fire flickering on the telly, three pumpkins keeping watch, and absolutely no reason to rush about.

Oh, what I would give to have an actual fire and cooler temperatures, but we can’t have it all.

I putter around the house adding a pumpkin here, moving something there, and generally making a happy place to be.

Then there are my husband’s old barn doors covering the tv , made from architectural salvage, because apparently even the doors around here need a bit of a story.

Not too grand. Just a cosy autumn day, a few old treasures, and a home that feels a little more like me with every season.
And honestly… I think the pumpkins approve. 🎃

Why would I want to go out?

I like being home.

There are candles to add to the candelabra, pumpkins that clearly belong in a different room, a clock that needs finding a new home, and a pillow that would look much better over there.

Then there’s my dog to cuddle, florals to tuck into a basket, a wreath that suddenly needs making, and some little trinket I’ve just found that absolutely belongs on my gallery wall.

Honestly, how am I supposed to leave the house with all this going on?

I’m not saying I never want to go out…

I’m just saying my cottage keeps giving me reasons to stay in.

Someone who is usually front and center has disappeared… 👀

“I’m not one of those who easily hides…”

So you’ll have to watch closely and see if you can find him. 😉

A cozy little corner filled with vintage baskets, fall blooms, pumpkins, a little moon tucked into an old mirror, and a given chair from my neighbor.

Almost everything here was thrifted, found, or given to me over the years. That’s what makes this little cottage feel like mine… layers of old things, oddities, and treasures that somehow found their way home.

And let’s not forget my sweet little duck. 🦆 I found him and gave him a little renovation, but he was one of a kind. I’ve never found another one.

Now… did you spot who was hiding? 👀

A little corner of my whimsical cottage… where nothing is too ordinary. 🤎

A broom hanging on the wall, vintage pieces and oddities tucked into the layers, candles and crows keeping watch, pumpkins piled about, and old books finding their way into nearly every corner.

There are sunflowers, candleholders, curious little characters and oddities a harlequin floor mat, and all sorts of things that probably don’t belong together… but somehow do.

I love a home that makes you stop for a proper little look.

Just layers of old things, found things, curious things, and a little bit of whimsy tucked in wherever it is needed.

Add in a few pieces or take a whole lot of inspiration.

My dream was never a new build.

I wanted a home with 100 years of character…

so I’ve spent the last few years giving my 1976 house a little old-world soul.

Architectural salvage, gingerbread woodwork, hand-painted floors, candelabras, vintage chandeliers chunky old furniture… and plenty of imagination.

It may not be 100 years old, but I’m having fun pretending it is. 🤍
