A Frank Lloyd Wright house comes with a pretty strong personality. Our job was less about changing it and more about figuring out how to make room for this family.⁠
⁠
The first floor needed a rethink, from the living and dining rooms to the everyday spaces that do the heavy lifting of family life. We reshaped layouts, refined the furnishings and lighting, and layered in pattern and collected pieces to make the rooms feel more personal and more livable.⁠
⁠
The fun part was finding the balance. The original millwork and architectural details were never going anywhere, nor should they. Instead, we took our cues from them—repeating shapes, echoing proportions, and choosing materials that feel right for the house without making it feel like a time capsule.⁠
⁠
The result is a home that still feels unmistakably Wright, but now feels unmistakably theirs, too. Collected rather than overly decorated, considered without feeling precious, and ready for real family life.⁠
⁠
Because even a house with this much architectural pedigree should still know how to relax.⁠

For this kitchen, we started by getting to know our clients. They're passionate home cooks, artists, and people who spend a lot of time gathered around the kitchen. They needed a space that felt open, intuitive, and tailored to the way they live - not the way the house was originally built.⁠
⁠
That meant rethinking the layout from the studs, designing custom cabinetry, opening up the kitchen and dining room, and paying attention to the details that make a space feel effortless to use. Even the cabinet heights and door openings were thoughtfully adjusted to fit them, creating a home that feels as comfortable as it is beautiful.⁠

One curve. Lots of commitment.

Our clients fell in love with this radius early on, so we ran with it. You'll find it in the custom hardware, the shelving, the cabinetry, the millwork, and the soffits.

It's not about making every detail match. It's about giving the house a visual language that carries from one moment to the next.

(Also, if you catch us repeating a detail throughout a project... it's almost certainly on purpose.)

What is a design concept?

Every project starts with curiosity, not certainty.

Before we choose a single finish or piece of furniture, we begin by asking questions. How do you want to live? What feels like home to you? What are you naturally drawn to?

From there, we gather. Images, materials, colors, textures, and ideas that begin to tell a story. This isn’t about presenting a finished design - it’s about creating a shared language that helps us discover the direction together.

The concept phase is where the conversation begins, and often where the most exciting ideas emerge. It’s less about finding the “right” answer and more about uncovering the one that feels unmistakably yours.

Design is always better when it’s built together.

In Sawyer for a site visit on a new project—and of course we turned it into a full day of vintage sourcing.

Because the best way to understand a place (and design for it) is to spend time in it—wandering, collecting, noticing what feels right.

Came to Mexico City for a change of scenery, left with 2,000 photos of tiles, a mild obsession with courtyards, and a deep respect for the layers, history, and craft behind every space. 🇲🇽✨

Color palettes? Rethought.
Furniture wishlist? Carefully edited.
Luggage space? Absolutely nonexistent.

Interior design is just travel with commitment issues, right?
