Here's why.

The first time you burn a candle, the melted wax creates what candle makers call a "wax memory." The candle will naturally want to keep burning to that same width each time it's lit.

If the wax doesn't melt close to the edges on that first burn, a tunnel can start to form down the center. Once that happens, it becomes harder for the candle to burn evenly.

That's why I always recommend letting your candle burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar during the first burn.

A little extra patience at the beginning can help your candle:
• Burn more evenly
• Throw scent better
• Waste less wax
• Last longer

It's one of the simplest things you can do to get the most from your candle.

I don’t usually post things like this, but I think it’s important to talk about the real side of small business.

At a recent market, someone bought candles, tapped to pay, took their products home… and then filed a claim that they “never received them.”
Even though it was an in-person sale, the bank still sided with them.

It was a $68 sale.
That’s materials, time, and care I put in — gone.

This isn’t about the money as much as it’s about the feeling.

It’s hard to understand how someone can take from a small business who is trying so hard to grow, especially one built with heart, by hand, and with pride in the community.

I’m sharing this to:
• Make other vendors aware that this can happen
• Learn how others handle chargebacks at markets
• And remind everyone that shopping small truly matters
