Before I picked embroidery back up, my medium was acrylic paint. This piece encompasses my journey as an artist- from acrylic paintings in middle school and high school, to a needle and thread now. This canvas frame was built and stretched to be a palette knife self-portrait my senior year of high school, and it’s followed me from there to my first apartment where I struggled hard to find myself in the world, and lost who I was an artist and fought so hard to hold onto that creativity. It followed me to my second apartment in Oshkosh to our second bedroom where my little business was born, and I spent countless hours stitching and drawing and creating there. Finally, I created this piece in a room fully dedicated to my creativity both as a graphic artist, and an embroidery artist. This canvas (first image) is a piece of me, from the paintbrush from the first set of brushes I owned, down to the small brushstrokes my little Sweetpea added to the canvas. ❤️
