A simple quick set up for my Easter table and it smelled so good.
Now that Willow is starting to really absorb this idea that we have holidays, it of course is stirring up memories of my childhood.
I was fortunate to start the season in color 💐 I think that’s what I remember vividly. Decorating soooooo many 6” Easter Lilly pots The tulips and hyacinths as well🪻Most church’s had a hefty order bc they would let the congregation take them home.
The greenhouses were also starting to come to life, filled with all the things we seeded during the winter. GREEN EVERYWHERE! 🪴
And don’t forget about the corsages! Ours were usually a simple carnation but we weren’t about to be the florist who showed up to church without one🌺
We would get an explosion of bags of candy from Greco on the Dining table; Malted Milk Balls, Gummy Bears, chocolate covered everything, including the eggs we pretended were pastel lipsticks🍫
It was just common knowledge that my dad was the Easter bunny 🐰
I was lucky enough to have many (great)grandparents, one of which would give us a basket with eggs she had colored, they would sit out all day and we still ate them 🐣She would make delicious coffee cakes and the first there would get to help put out the crackers and slice the cheese.
We would then head back over to the Greenhouse Grandmas, where I would try to dominate in Chubby Bunny and finding the most eggs with coins and $2 bills. Something about the hide and seek of the eggs I could do all day 🍡
We were always working with the local funeral homes and churches, the cemetery was essentially part of our backyard. So as odd as it may seem, the day usually ended with a walk through the cemetery where we visited with our loved ones, explored the gravestones and hung out under the big old trees 🌳
It was a day that walked us into spring and uplifted us with fun and laughter. I felt calm, relaxed and safe 💕
Im playing a different kind of chubby bunny nowadays, but I think I’ve got the hang of it.
