Lovebugs (aka “honeymoon flies”) swarmed Seoul, especially around Gyeyang Mountain, in overwhelming numbers between late June and early July 2025.🐞

They don’t bite or spread disease, but they’ve blanketed cars, storefronts, and even hiker trails—leaving residents shook, not charmed.😧

Climate heat, check. Urban warmth, check. Perfect bug storm, double check. But this phenomenon faded since mid-July.

That harmless-looking thing?
It’s the pupa of the common clothes moth (Tineola bisselliella).
When you see them, it's a silent warning that your wardrobe might be under attack.
Because at this stage the larvae (caterpillars) are actively feeding on fabrics, causing damage. While adult clothes moths don't feed on fabrics, the pupa, which is the transition stage between larva and adult, is still part of the destructive phase.

They sleep in your pores all day... and party on your skin at night.
When you're asleep, they crawl out, mate, and then wiggle back in to lay eggs.
Good thing is, they don’t p**p (because they can’t)
Bad thing is, when they die, they explode inside your skin.

But hey—don’t freak out.
They're mostly harmless, weirdly loyal, and have been with you your whole life.

Nope. It's a Lobster Moth Caterpillar.
Before becoming a perfectly polite moth, this caterpillar looks like it crawled out of a nightmare and straight into an identity crisis. With a swollen head, bizarre backwards legs, and a tail that curls like a lobster’s claw — it’s the ultimate bug cosplay.
But it’s not just for show.
When threatened, it rears up like a tiny alien monster, flailing and pretending to be terrifying.
