In this primary bathroom remodel, our client was all about bringing personality into the space. From maintaining the original stained glass window to wallpapering the walls and ceiling in the water closet to the green clawfoot tub and toilet, this bathroom was packed with unique features.

This bedroom proves that thoughtful layering can do the talking. A richly textured peacock colored grasscloth accent wall brings depth and contrast, while warm brass finishes, soft linens, and natural textures create a space that feels both elevated and inviting.

The best spaces aren’t filled with more, they’re designed with intention.

Although we love color around here, we always appreciate a good neutral space as well, when done right.

The beauty of a neutral palette is in the layering—warm tones, thoughtful contrast, natural textures, and finishes that give the space depth without overwhelming it.

This bedroom is proof that a quiet palette can still make a statement.

Neutral doesn’t have to mean one-note. 🤍

How high should pendant lights hang over a kitchen island? 💡

A good rule of thumb is to hang the bottom of your pendants about 30–36 inches above the countertop. But ceiling height, fixture size, and sight lines all play a role in getting the placement just right.

It’s a small detail that can make a big difference in how a kitchen looks and feels.

Fall doesn’t require a complete redesign. A few thoughtful changes can shift the feeling of a space for the season 🍂

Layer in richer textures, warmer tones, natural materials and seasonal branches. Even small changes — like swapping textiles or adjusting your styling — can make a home feel warmer and more inviting as the seasons change.

Hi! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself around here, and there are quite a few new faces, so I thought it was time. 👋

I’m Colleen Langdon, the principal designer and owner behind Crafted Quarters.

I started Crafted Quarters because I believe a beautiful home should be about so much more than how it looks. It should work for the way you actually live; where you drop your keys, how your family gathers, what you need to store, how you entertain, and all of those little things that make a house feel like your home.

My favorite homes aren't the ones that look like they came straight from a showroom. They're the ones with a little personality; a beautiful color, an unexpected pattern, a meaningful piece, or that one detail that makes you think, of course this belongs here.

A little about me outside of design: I’m a wife, mom of two boys, dog mom, perpetual house-project starter, and someone who can spend an unreasonable amount of time obsessing over a 1/4" detail. 😉 When I’m not working on a client's home, there’s a pretty good chance I’m dreaming up the next project for my own.

It’s all in the repetition. 🖤

Black accents were carried throughout this bathroom, from the cabinetry and fixtures to the mirrors, windows, shower framing, and statement flooring. Repeating the same finish creates contrast while giving the entire space a sense of balance and cohesion.

Proof that a bold detail doesn’t have to overpower a room when it’s used with intention.

Should your kitchen island match your cabinets? Not necessarily.

A contrasting island can add warmth, depth, and dimension while creating a natural focal point in the kitchen. In this space, the rich walnut island grounds the lighter perimeter cabinetry and complements the warm finishes throughout.

The key is choosing finishes that complement each other rather than compete.
