We had one of our long time designers call with a fire to put out. She had a project with a deadline in a few days with her clients coming in. Coco Franklin with Feathers Interiors had another artisan scheduled to do the project ( yeah I know, but come on , we can’t do every project)…but this person jumped ship at the last moment…
And so now we have a situation where I have to try and juggle the other projects that we already have penciled in for the following week . And hope that the product ships in time. Coco wanted to do a liquid metallic finish on the powder room mirror surround…, But what happens 90% or more of the time… As soon as we started doing the finish , she asked how soon could we get back to do the ceilings and the window sills as well? Well, if we’re on a job and there’s any way in heck, that we can get it done and not have to worry about finding time to get back, well, if there’s any way possible, we’re going to do it… I guess that’s why I’ve had only one day off in five weeks…. so I guess the lesson is… Don’t call that guy back… And it’s not just that a person can show you a sample, or a photograph of the work that they supposedly can do… It’s will they show up and will they stay and see the project through to the end… We’re on track to do over 600 projects this year and we’re just a company of six people. If I say it’s gonna be done, you can rest Rest Assured , unless I end up being in the hospital and all of my crew have been kidnapped, it shall be finished …We have never not completed a project by a scheduled deadline.
So Remember….

Theres a Wayie!”

What the heck?!?
Where? Who? How in the heck did they scratch the floor this bad?
Better call Willie!!
Yeah, but it’s 3:30 on a Friday…
Yeah, but he’s crazy, and never takes time off.
Just remember,

Beats the heck out of removing all these planks… and just before closing too!

But the new concrete patch just isn’t cutting it….
sometimes things happen , that are out of your control….
Better call Willie,
Because he has a son, that’s the BOMB! Great job Reece!

A beautiful powder we just completed (ok, this was All Paul), 32 years of Not following the latest trend…
Just adding depth and richness to walls, using our techniques that have evolved over decades….
Doing quality work , on schedule and on budget…
When we’re not repairing someone else’s “plaster”, “lime wash”, “clay” or whatever else is the latest trend.
We love the way some of these other products look…
We also love how much we make repairing them whenever other companies either can’t or won’t fix their walls that were damaged either by other trades or by the clients just “living”. Last year my crew and I did over 500 projects this year. We’re on track to go over 600… And that includes 20 to 25% of our workload repairing other people‘s shotty work so it’s wonderful that somebody can put up a beautiful wall for you… But it’s a whole Nother thing that if that company will come back as long as you live there and keep it pristine and the way you’ve always wanted it.

So even when I’m not working, I’m most likely still working.
Over the years , my wife had loved collecting various toys…
So the latest item on the menu is Labubu…. So I wanted to surprise her with a Labubu door.

We finished up our “rustic” man cave after just ten days start to finish…
All of the walls were prepped, repaired, based and then given a nice warm glow using two additional colors.
We textured and glazed the clients two photos on canvas, then glazed over them with paint and colored pencil to give them the appearance of old paintings. Repurposed a large 3D painted I created over 30 years ago .
Then we created not one but five large frames using reclaimed wood on the painting, the two photos and two TVs… and hung them all…. Along with several of the clients antique western items brought from their ranch in Wyoming. I also encased their chest freezer in wood to create
a unique wooden crate, and added some “aging” to several of our clients
random decorations to help them fit in with the new look.
What do you think?

Another small detail project in our Ahwahtukee man cave…
Everything inside here is rustic and aged looking … so a bright white chest freezer doesn’t quite meet the criteria so wanted a person to do? So I clad it in reclaim Barnwood… The key was to make it so you’re not messing with the ability of it to keep things frozen and to make sure that the door doesn’t affect the seal.… Oh, and by the way, did I mention that I’m a painter and not a finish carpenter?

Putting some finishing touches onto this 3D painting of Monument Valley piece that I originally created for a long time client (and great friends) in Desert Mountain back in ‘93. But that client sold their Az home and the buyers didn’t want the “rustic” southwestern vibe…..
So I went and took it down and stored it for close to 15 years.
Lo and behold, this unique piece just found its new home in our huge project in Ahwahtukee. We have been transforming this plain two story casita into a ….yep “rustic” man cave.
More to come….

A long time contractor friend called me and said that she had a business associate that was doing a remodel in Central Phoenix….
and that they had installed a precast concrete fireplace that was really rough… that was an understatement. So they hired a guy to come in and float it out smooth… And it was pretty much none the better once he was finished… I went over there and saw it and asked what are you expecting? And they said well we want it. pretty smooth …. Why didn’t you get an actual limestone fireplace that was smooth and they said well we thought the guy could get it smooth enough, and save us some on the budget…but after three days of spinning wheels, it was no better… That to, was an understatement …and I’m like I don’t know what this guy did for three days. Did he sleep for 2 1/2 of them?… So they ask if it could be made better and I’m saying , I guess, you just have to keep pushing forward or tear it out and start over…So they decided to push forward , so we prepped it and I spent two and a half hours or so filling in all the little gaps and cleaning up the edges… after mixing up a color that the contractor liked , I went to town… So it’s frustrating that something takes you six hours to do ,when I could’ve started and finished it in less then three if I had from the beginning… Well, the clients , designer and general contractor loved it so that’s good.
I asked the general contractor what does he think it was worth and what was her budget since it took me over six hours to do…
If she said, charge me whatever you need to, so that the next time I call you, you will pick up the phone!😳😂🥴
That was a great reply… I told her I’ll charge her for three hours and I’ll still pick up the phone and save
your butt the next time you get in a jam.
And just remember these two things,
“Where there’s a Willie ,
Theres a Wayie!”
and….
“Faux’s not the French
word for Crap!”
So remember ( okay, three things)
