Some combinations deserve a spotlight. These pillows are cut from vintage kilims from Moldova. Their striking floral design is so dramatic against the black ground. We paired them here with a subtle blockprint quilt, stripes from Morocco and a Kashmiri paisley throw. Love!

Creating rooms that flow indoors to out in this villa project in Ubud, Bali was a necessity and a joy. We got to use many TDL favorites in this project. Old teak benches, handwoven rattan chairs, ikat pillows, reclaimed wood tables - so many fun things. Here is one of the sitting areas in the Main Joglo of Uma Rembulan - she positively glows as the sun goes down. Textile shopping in Turkey is a magical affair - rooms overflowing with sumptuous silks and suzani awaiting their future fate as beautiful pillows and bedspreads. It’s such a lovely time of year when all these shipments have arrived back to back - silk and velvet ikat, hand embroidered suzani and vintage kilims. Textile nirvana!

Reminder that it’s Turkish pot season at TDL right now! Here is some footage from our buying trip earlier this year. It’s amazing that so many of these old beauties have survived all these generations and get to grace our homes today. And even the newly made glaze topped little guys are now so expertly made they also truly look old. Love that there are variations on the green - so now we have ochre and the great cola colored glazes as well. So much beauty. They won’t last long and this shipment comes but once a year.

Out tiger chairs from India are one of those wild and wonderful things we just cannot resist. As soon as one is adopted and taken home, we get back to Rajasthan and make sure a new litter is coming back to us. There is just something so entertaining about their toothy grins - and honestly with a little lumbar pillow they are quite comfy for hanging out. Here’s a tiger chair appreciation moment - love them so!

We have been brining in rattan pieces from Indonesia and Morocco for decades and love to use them as dramatic light fixtures. Big elongated baskets that take inspiration from vintage fish traps are a personal favorite! But we also have orbs and teardrops, fluted discs and more! Something fun, in a natural material that’s also affordable and easy to install? Yes please!

Fall tablescapes are all about rustic layers - aged pots, autumn stems, soft, worn textures and the rich colors of the earth finally relaxing its grip on summer. We are trying to will this season into existence here in AZ! Love our new Turkish pots combined with our favorite Tamegroute green zellige tile tables which are perfect for gatherings outside. At least our evenings and mornings feel fall-like??

Creating special moments - it’s all about layers of interest, texture, and of course color. Here a gorgeous Thai Buddha in verdigris bronze, a papier mâché bowl with giant star seed pods, and a big green demijohn with a Moroccan leather tent tassel. I mean - drama!

When you plan a whole bedroom vignette around the antique Turkish pots that are positively glowing by the front door - joy! Vintage suzani pillows and bedspread, old doors from India behind the headboard made from a salvaged balcony railing - oh and a bronze monkey, just because.
