For this desert retreat, we wanted to breathe new life into a dated Mediterranean home, allowing light, warmth, and a more refined architectural language to shape the experience.⁠

That same philosophy carried into the primary bathroom, where soft, natural tones and tactile textures create a sense of quiet luxury.⁠

The mountains have a way of reminding us that nature is the greatest designer of all.⁠
⁠
When we began designing this Deer Valley retreat, I wanted the home to have the same sense of wonder you feel standing among the mountains. That beautiful balance of strength, stillness, and a little drama.⁠
⁠
We combined two residences into one, connected by a sculptural steel and glass staircase. Rich walnut ceilings draw your eyes upward, while warm oak floors and deep black cabinetry give the home a sense of grounding.⁠

And then there are the pieces I love. A bronze chandelier that feels like gathering beneath tree branches. A sculptural table that celebrates the beautiful imperfections of wood.⁠

A mountain home should have a certain soul to it. A connection to the land, a respect for its surroundings, and enough personality that you understand the people who live there.⁠

A bedroom should feel like a sanctuary, and sometimes it’s the smallest details that can create that feeling.⁠
⁠
For this space, we wanted softness, warmth and a sense of quiet luxury. We found this quilted wall treatment that brought in texture and gave us acoustic value, which I love when something can be both beautiful and functional.⁠
⁠
There are crystal pendants from Okra. I use them often because they’re just so beautifully done… There’s a weight and quality to them that you can feel, and the crystal paired with that clean bronze detailing feels like jewelry in the room.⁠

Those layers are what I love about design. It’s not one beautiful thing… it’s how everything comes together to create a feeling.⁠

This home already knew what it was doing. Clean European lines, views that stop you mid-sentence, limestone floors that kept flowing right out the back door.⁠
⁠
What it didn't have was warmth. And for this client a room without warmth, no matter how well built, did not feel like home.⁠
⁠
So, we didn't touch what was already working. We layered into it. Warm woods, real texture, a fireplace wrapped in graphic granite that I'm still a little obsessed with. And something shifted. The whole space loosened up. Got softer. Started to feel like the people who live there instead of a photo shoot. It highlighted the clients lived journey, curated art, accusations from travels, and their hospitable personality. ⁠

That's the whole purpose for me. A home that elevates your spirit.⁠

There are certain details in a home that quietly shape your experience.

Door hardware is one of them.

It's one of the very first things you touch when entering a room, yet it's often the last detail people consider.

I believe those small, tactile moments matter.

The weight of a handle. The coolness of solid brass. The craftsmanship you can feel in your hand. These seemingly subtle details create an impression that lingers long after you've walked through the door.

To me, luxury has never been about excess.

It's about intention.

When every element is thoughtfully selected, even something as simple as a door handle… it contributes to a home that feels cohesive, timeless, and personal.

Because extraordinary homes aren't defined by one grand statement.

They're created through hundreds of beautiful, intentional details.

This home had one job. Hold her through whatever comes next.⁠

We designed this space for a woman who's facing real health challenges, and the job was never just about beauty. It was about giving her a home that could hold her through whatever comes next, without ever feeling clinical or cold.⁠
⁠
So, we leaned into the desert. Earthy Sonoran tones, materials you want to touch, textures that make a room feel alive instead of sterile. Underneath all of it, smart systems doing quiet work so the house adjusts to her needs instead of asking her to adjust to it.⁠
⁠
A zero-threshold shower. An elevator to allow complete access to home. Easy levers, to open. Art she chose herself, placed where she can see it from her favorite chair. These aren't accessibility features bolted onto a design. They're the design.⁠
⁠
Independence looks like a lot of things. Sometimes it looks like a home that never makes you feel like you're managing a limitation. A home that feels like you.⁠

This one wasn't built to whisper.⁠
⁠
Black. Sexy, moody, a little bit unapologetic. I carried the wood straight through from the rest of the house, so it didn't go cold, but I wanted this room to have some attitude.⁠
⁠
Then I looked up at that mountain wall of granite behind us and forgot what I was doing for a minute. All that rugged, jagged, sculptural stone, angles nature never bothered to soften for anyone. I wanted the bar to move like that. So, we built it in three dimensions, sharp cuts, real angles, nothing flat about it. My millwork team probably cursed me a few times getting there. The end result… worth every bit of it.⁠

Bronze warming up the oak. Oak warming up the black. A room that feels like it knows exactly what it is.⁠

A home begins to tell its story the moment art enters the conversation.

Long before the final accessory is placed or the last detail is complete, art establishes the emotional language of a space. It introduces energy, invites curiosity, and gives a home its unmistakable point of view.

When I curate a collection for a client, I'm never asking, "What will look beautiful here?"

I'm asking, "What will this piece make you feel five years from now?"

The most extraordinary collections don't simply complement a room...they shape it. They become part of the architecture, influencing light, movement, and the way we experience every moment within the space.

Art has the remarkable ability to slow us down. To ask us to look closer. To feel more deeply.

And perhaps that's the greatest luxury of all.
