📖 A New Scottsville Journal Entry Is Now Available

Few buildings in Scottsville have lived as many lives as the Welch House.

For more than a century, it has served as a family home, restaurant, doctor's office, beauty shop, apartment, insurance office, event venue, and gathering place for generations of Allen Countians.

Our newest Scottsville Journal entry, "The Welch House: More Than a Century of Scottsville Memories," explores the history of this remarkable downtown landmark through historic research, photographs, and the memories shared by members of our community.

As I researched this article, one thing became clear: people weren't just remembering a building. They were remembering pieces of their own lives.

Whether you visited Dr. Miller, ate at the restaurant, got your hair done there, attended an event, lived upstairs, or simply admired the house as you passed through town, this story belongs to all of us.

📬 Don't forget to join our email list to receive future Scottsville Journal entries directly in your inbox every Sunday evening.

A love letter to Scottsville. 💛

✨SCOTTSVILLE, 1816-2026✨

Today, we're proud to release a special commemorative print honoring Scottsville's 210th anniversary.

Featuring the Second Allen County Courthouse (c. 1818), this museum-inspired piece was created to celebrate the history, heritage, and community that have shaped Scottsville for more than two centuries.

From the earliest settlers who established our town in 1816 to the generations who continue to call it home today, Scottsville's story is one worth preserving and sharing.

This framed print is available exclusively through the Scottsville Candle Company website through July 4, 2026.
Here's to 210 years of community, history, and hometown pride.

✨ A Love Letter to Scottsville ✨

One of the things we’ve enjoyed most about building Scottsville Candle Company has been the opportunity to celebrate the places that make our community unique.

Our Historic Scottsville Collection features some of the landmarks that have shaped Allen County’s story, including the Old Allen County Courthouse, the Scottsville Train Depot, the Public Spring, the Scottsville Tabernacle, and more.

Each piece is inspired by the history, architecture, and character that make Scottsville feel like home.

As we continue adding new prints and commemorative releases, our goal remains the same: to preserve local stories and share them with future generations through art, photography, and storytelling.

Whether you’re decorating your home, searching for a meaningful gift, or simply love local history, we invite you to explore the collection.

🏡 A Love Letter to Scottsville.
📖 Inspired by the stories of our town.

☀️ Some dreams take the long way home.

Long before there was a logo, a candle, a website, or a pink canopy, there was simply an idea:

What if the stories of Scottsville didn’t have to be forgotten?

What if the places that shaped this town could be remembered, celebrated, and shared with a new generation?

That idea eventually became Scottsville Candle Company.

Not because we wanted to sell candles.

But because we wanted to tell stories.

The story of a train depot that welcomed travelers home.

The story of a courthouse that has watched generations pass by.

The story of old houses, quiet streets, family photographs, and the places that become part of us without us ever realizing it.

Over the next few weeks, as we prepare for our next chapter, we’d love to hear some of your stories too.

✨ What place in Scottsville means the most to you?

✨ What building do you slow down to look at every time you pass it?

✨ What piece of Scottsville would you never want to see disappear?

Because every collection begins with a story.

And the best stories have always belonged to this town. 💛

💛 Every town has its landmarks.

But its real history lives in recipe boxes, handwritten notes, church suppers, family reunions, and the dishes that somehow find their way to every gathering.

As we prepare for a season of family, sunshine, and a new chapter of our own, we’re honored to help preserve these stories for generations to come through the Scottsville Community Cookbook.

📖 Have a family recipe with a story behind it? We’d love for you to submit it.

✨ Own a business or want to support a great cause? Community sponsorship opportunities are now available. Sponsors will be featured throughout the cookbook, creating a lasting keepsake while helping support local families through VH Dream Center.

Some things are worth preserving.

This is one of them. 💛☀️

Every town has a secret ingredient. 💛

Scottsville’s is the people in it.

We’re building something together — a cookbook that doesn’t just hold recipes, it holds memories. The biscuits your grandmother made without measuring. The chili that showed up at every funeral and every celebration. The cake nobody could ever quite recreate.

We want those recipes. The ones with stories behind them.

Submit yours before August 31, 2026 and become part of something Scottsville will hold onto forever. Every single dollar raised goes to local families through the VH Dream Center.

Because that’s what this town does. It shows up.
