72 MILLION views later!!!!! šŸŽƒ Kicking off Halloween with one of my most watched videos of all time!

If youā€™ve been here a while, you know this one! And if youā€™re new, welcome to Babsā€™ Doā€™s and Donā€™ts of Pumpkin Carving!

And weā€™re just getting started! šŸŽƒ Follow along because I have so many NEW Halloween tricks, treats, and traditions to share with you this year! Whether youā€™ve been here since the original or just found me, Iā€™m so glad youā€™re here!

Carving jack-oā€™-lanterns has always been one of our favorite family traditions, but the mess? Not so much! These simple tricks make pumpkin carving easier, faster, and a whole lot more fun!

šŸŽƒ Babsā€™ Pumpkin Carving Doā€™s and Donā€™ts:

1. Carve from the bottom, not the top! Keep the stem as a handle and slip your pumpkin right over a battery-operated candle.
2. Hold your pumpkin securely in your lap while sketching your design, but place it on a stable surface when cutting.
3. Use a red dry erase marker to draw your design. It wipes right off!
4. Use a hand mixer to loosen all those messy pumpkin guts!
5. Grab your pumpkin carving cookie cutters and a rubber mallet for easy designs.
6. Rub a little Vaseline on the cut edges to help prevent them from drying out.

And my favorite finishing touch? A sprinkle of cinnamon inside the pumpkin for that wonderful fall scent! šŸ‚

Comment APPLES šŸŽ if you want the recipes from our apple-picking haul!

Apple picking has been a fall tradition in our family for years. I used to bring my preschoolers to Blue Jay Orchards, and now I get to go back with my grandkids. Talk about a full-circle moment. ā¤ļø

We came home with plenty of apples and put them right to work! We made my no-peel, no-core applesauce, Mystery Apple Cake, apple cinnamon simple syrup, an apple-stamp family tree, and the coziest apple c***r pork dinner with butternut squash.

And maybe my favorite part? That apple-stamp craft is one we used to do at my preschool, The Growing Tree. Now I get to do it with my grandkids. šŸ„¹

A little apple picking, a little cooking, a little crafting, and everyone around the table at the end of the day. These are the fall days I hope theyā€™ll always remember. šŸ‚šŸŽ

Hereā€™s everything I made for the ultimate Football Sunday spread from last weekend with the fam! Also a great menu if youā€™re hunkering down for the weekend. From a giant Italian sub and a cozy pot of chili to jalapeƱo popper dip and Scotcheroos, this is the kind of spread that keeps everyone happy from kickoff to the final whistle.

And one of my favorite hosting tricks? I covered the island in kraft paper and wrote the names of each dish right on it. Easy cleanup and everyone knows exactly what theyā€™re grabbing!

Hereā€™s the science: vodka contains ethanol, which kills the odor-causing bacteria responsible for that funky sports gear smell. And because alcohol evaporates quickly, the vodka smell disappears as it dries.

Just add plain, unflavored vodka to a spray bottle, lightly mist the gear, and let it air-dry completely.

Think pads, cleats, gloves, and other hard-to-wash gear that comes home smelling likeā€¦ well, you know. šŸ˜…

Fall officially begins next week, so Iā€™m making the most of every last farmers market haul.

One trip to the farmers market turned into six delicious things:

Grilled corn and peach panzanella
A big batch of basil honey
Ricotta dip with pickled stone fruit
Cool melon spritzers
Blackberry rosemary chicken thighs
Grilled radicchio with blistered Sungold tomato dressing

My favorite part? Finding ways to use the same ingredients again and again. That basil honey went from the ricotta dip right into our melon spritzers, and not a bit of that beautiful market haul went to waste.

Thereā€™s something so special about cooking with whatā€™s fresh, gathering everyone around the table, and enjoying the season youā€™re in before the next one arrives. ā¤ļø

If you have ever struggled to make your house truly feel like a home, you are not alone. That is why every seasonal chapter in Homemaking with Babs includes ideas for adding the comforting, personal touches that make a home feel like yours.

While we were in Charleston, we posted on Stories asking if anyone would let me come over and help organize their home.

Lauren invited us in.

We thought the day would be about sharing a few organizing tips, but what it became was so much more.

Lauren already had a beautiful, organized house. But since losing her mom two years ago shortly after she started building her house, she had been struggling to now make it truly feel like home. She missed having her mom there to say, ā€œOkay, here is what you do.ā€

So we spent the day making small, comforting changes using ideas from my new book.

We brought her motherā€™s vase and silver out of storage. We displayed her childrenā€™s artwork, created a craft and homework cart for calmer afternoons, and framed old photographs of her mom so Lauren could see her every time she walked through the door.

Nothing we did completely changed her house. But each little detail made it feel warmer, more personal and more connected to the people she loves.

Because homemaking is not about having a perfect house or buying more things. It is about bringing the meaningful things you already have into your everyday life and creating a home where the people inside feel seen, loved and cared for.

Lauren later told me there were so many things she did not know she still needed her mom to teach her.

That is why I wrote Homemaking with Babs. So whenever you need a little motherly guidance, you can open the book and hear me say, ā€œOkay, here is what you do.ā€ ā¤ļø
