This was the sunset today at Ridgefield. This was the last sunset of my dads life on earth. He saw the face of Jesus today a little after noon. He was tired of being tied to a bed by oxygen and IV’s. He made the decision to stop any type of intervention and treatment and put himself on “comfort care.” My sister and I made the decision to bring him home to Ridgefield for his last few days. He has left such a legacy for us to continue and to live up to. He was generous to the end. “Always give off the top, of your first fruits” he said. “It all belongs to God, He is just letting you borrow it.” “Put God first & love people.” “Always forgive people, that will be the measure of forgiveness given to you.” “I hope everyone will be saved…that means I have chance.” (This was said with a half smile)…Well dad, you are saved and you knew it! Happy homecoming. I’m excited for you but super sad for all of us. You lived big. You loved big. You gave big. You were one of a kind. Making friends wherever you went. You were a dad to the ones that didn’t have one. You were a grandad to whoever needed you. A best friend to so many.
Dad greeted people he first met with “Where do you go to church?” It was is his way of finding out if they knew Jesus on a personal level. If he didn’t think they did he would ask them if they would like to study the Bible with him. He told me while he was in the hospital that he had met a few people there that might like to study with him. He had a few more things he wanted to do before he went Home. God saw it differently. Today He said,”Well done my good & faithful servant, come on Home.” See you soon dad. Carrying on your legacy while we wait for our day.
