One of the coolest additions to the shop so far.
Just picked up this original uncut sheet of obsolete currency from the old Searsport Bank here in Searsport, Maine — including the incredibly uncommon $3 note.
These were issued during the era of state-chartered banks before modern federal currency existed. Back then, individual banks printed their own money, and every design was unique. Being able to hang a piece of actual Searsport history inside the shop is pretty special.
The artwork on these is unreal — ships, eagles, livestock, anchors — all tied directly to Maine’s maritime history. And yes… that middle note really is a Three Dollar bill.
This piece will be going up on display at Fetch Coins in Searsport soon!
