Some samplers are worth returning to again and again—and I couldn’t wait to pick up my Jane Summers pattern and begin stitching it once more. 🤎 Each little stitch feels like revisiting an old favorite, with all the quiet joy and comfort that comes with it.

A reproduction sampler stitched by me, originally designed by Sarah Christians.
This sampler was such a lovely opportunity to enjoy the details and variety of specialty stitches throughout the design. The pictorial scene, with its garden-i spired motifs and central tree, brings Adam and Eve, a traditional subject found in many antique samplers. The imagery evokes the Garden of Eden and the themes of creation, nature, and the relationship between humanity and the natural world.
From the satin stitch accents to the tiny birds stitched one over one within the windows of the little house, each detail adds something special to the finished piece. The alphabet stitched in Algerian stitch brings beautiful texture and dimension to the lettering.
I also made a small personal change to the original color palette by stitching the border flowers in a dusty pink. The original design featured softer, n**e and muted blooms, but I wanted the pink to stand out a little more against the earthy greens and warm, neutral tones.
I love how subtle changes make a reproduction sampler feel uniquely my own while still honoring the charm and character of the original design. A piece filled with thoughtful details, traditional stitches, and the timeless beauty of antique needlework.

🍂 There’s something about a gentle fall day that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile.

The lamp is glowing, the shades are up, and the house is wrapped in that soft autumn light. Layers of quilts, a few furry friends curled up nearby, and nowhere I need to be.

Just the little comforts that make an ordinary day feel extra special. A slower pace, a warm home, and the simple joy of being cozy. 🤎🕯️🧺
