Our client want to create a lovely guest bathroom for her mum to visit. An upholstered seating area for her to sit if she needed was created behind the sink and adjacent to the shower. While the wallpaper stole the show I consider the most important part of this bathroom was inclusion of grab bars. You can see one in the adjacent shower.

I’m excited to learn I am a finalist for Interior Design Society Designer of the Year (DOTY) awards. Next Wednesday I’ll be flying to Las Vegas for the Gala at the Bellagio. This is a snap from last year’s gala in New Orleans where I was thrilled to receive two first place awards. This year I’m wearing a green dress. Can’t wait to celebrate with colleagues from our local IDS Seattle chapter.

Capture of our North Seattle kitchen. I still get a chuckle out of the color name for the tile - Elephant 🐘 This was a handmade tile that came in beautifully imperfect but the tile person was a true artisan on this project and made it work. Our cabinet shop hit it out of the park with grain matching. These clients expected the best and got it.

Fall is in the air here in Seattle. 🍁Sharing a scene from a recently completed home. Not to get all pumpkin spice on y’all just yet though as I hear Seattle has a few more warm days in store. That said, a functional and working fireplace is gold on a crisp morning or evening. This one was the focal point in this charming home and she needed some accoutrements. In addition to very special twin leopard upholstered chairs we found a antique Japanese basket from Honeychurch Antiques . As we transform your living room we’ll make sure your fireplace isn’t left out in the cold.

Sharing our award-winning Capitol Hill bathroom that received a Designer of the Year (DOTY) in New Orleans last year by Interior Design Society. We flipped the standalone tub and vanity positioning, combining the tub and shower locations. This created space for a toilet room. Custom pivot mirrors for the vanity in front of the bay windows allowed natural light from an exterior street view. The shower was naturally lit by a glass pane separating it from the tub. We combined the timeless look of Carrera marble in a large format porcelain tile with a spring green color on the vanity skylight chase and the niche deco tile. The result was a fresh, light-filled space with energizing color. Thank you to all the artisans who made our vision a reality. LoveWhereYouLive

A capstone to a wonderful summer was attending Dave Matthews Band DMB Gorge Crew last night with my good friend. The sunset did not disappoint and the performera filled my soul. I discovered S I E R R A H U L L ✨ an amazing performer. Their duet of Long Black Veil was hauntingly beautiful - check it out on YouTube. Pivoting to fall with new projects and lovely clients and am excited about a full ski season with my fixed (and strong) new ACL. Goodbye summer, bring it fall 🍁🍂

Today I learned that Yayoi Kusama, one of this century’s most important artists died on August 14th. I’ve seen (experienced) her work in Seattle, Pittsburgh, and New York. I am touched by her quote: “I fight pain, anxiety, and fear every day, and the only method I have found that relieves my illness is to keep creating art. I followed the thread of art and somehow discovered a path that would allow me to live.”

Initially these Seattle clients thought they wanted all white pieces but as we worked together we discovered they were craving vibrant color and old world styling with a touch of eclecticism in their living room but able to accommodate the messy challenges of a rescue hound and two young kids. We started with a stunning Heriz rug from Andonian Rugs and built the palette from there. After the installation of their living room and blending of existing art and family pieces they wrote: “We could not have imagined it coming together like this.” *
