THESES CANDLES HELP PEOPLE
Spir is the Latin word for breathe — something we hope to help others do so more easily. We exclusively employ young men with periods of incarceration to make our candles — providing jobs, mentorship, and a space to breathe so they can have the best opportunity to become who they aspire to be. When you buy your candle from us, you buy more than a candle. You’re investing

in the young people we work with — and hopefully yourself. We believe doing something is better than nothing. In this case, that something is buying a candle.

MORE THAN A SECOND CHANCE

April is Fair Chance Month — a time to recognize the barriers nearly 80 million Americans with records face every day.

Many aren’t looking for a second chance.
They’re looking for their first fair one.

An opportunity to step into environments where they’re invested in.
Where they can learn, grow, and lead — not in spite of their experiences, but because of them.

For us, this work is deeply personal.
We work with “juveniles” — a word that often makes people think differently. But the truth is simple:

They’re kids.

Kids who, in many cases, grew up inside systems instead of homes.
Kids who were “raised” by institutions and strangers.

I once heard a quote about parenting that stuck with me:
We must create boundaries, accountability, and structure for those we love…
or strangers who don’t love them will.

Fair chances mean stepping in with intention — not judgment.
It means seeing people for who they are, and who they can become.

That’s the work. That’s the responsibility. That’s the opportunity.

When you choose to work with us — our event space, our candles, our non-profit — you’re actively supporting our capacity to create fair chances, for kids that haven’t had one.

We know—it’s been a minute! But trust us, the quiet on our socials doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. In fact, we have some BIG news… 🎉

We’re beyond excited to share that SPIR has been selected for REDF’s 2025 Accelerator Cohort! Starting tomorrow, we’ll be joining 9 other amazing organizations from across the U.S. in a six-month journey of learning, collaboration, and growth—scaling the impact of our employment social enterprises (ESEs).

Together, we’re using the power of business to break down employment barriers and create meaningful opportunities in our communities. This is a huge milestone, and we’re so grateful for this opportunity!

To everyone who has supported our mission—thank you. Your belief in this work makes all the difference. Time to get to work! 🚀✨
