A New Chapter

(and a Bit of Transparency)

Hi there,

I wanted to share a more personal update with you—because if you’ve been following along for a while, you probably noticed I’ve been a little quiet lately.

Back in early March, I learned that I’ve developed a severe epoxy resin allergy. It honestly caught me completely off guard. I was pretty devastated at first—it felt like I suddenly lost the core of what I had built. It honestly felt like I lost my job… again.

So I went quiet.

I needed time to process, learn what this meant long-term, and figure out what comes next. My brain was spinning for a while, but I didn’t stay there for long. I started doing what I always do—figuring it out.

And now, I finally feel like I have a clear-ish path forward.

I’m still here—and still teaching, creating, and figuring things out, it will just be in a new way.

Quick Update (TL;DR):

• I developed a severe epoxy resin allergy and won’t be teaching resin classes moving forward
• One final resin class: Tuesday 4/28, 6–8pm (https://rustedelementdesign.as.me/artclasses) at Dabble
• I'll continue making with wood but I’m also shifting into new materials
• I’m now offering 1:1 creative business support (https://www.rustedelementdesign.com/work-with-me)
• New class coming soon: Make Your Own Pot + Pick a Plant
• Markets: (https://www.rustedelementdesign.com/locations) I’ll be at Alki Art Fair (July) + Ballard Farmers Market more frequently + more markets coming soon
• Epoxy resin supplies (https://www.rustedelementdesign.com/shop/resin-craft-supplies/10) still on sale but once they are gone they will be gone

Keep reading for the full story

One last epoxy resin class

Because of my allergy, I’ll be wrapping up my resin classes.

Final class: Tuesday, 4/28 from 6–8pm (https://rustedelementdesign.as.me/artclasses) , at Dabble
There are still a few spots open—but I don’t expect that to last long after this goes out.

If you’ve been meaning to take a class with me, this is your moment.

What I’m Working On Now

This is where things start to feel exciting again.

I’m shifting into materials that are safer for me and more eco-friendly overall, while still keeping that hands-on, creative experience I love to teach.

Right now I’m working on:

• A new class: “Make Your Own Pot & Pick a Plant” (using hydrostone)
→ hoping to launch early this summer
• Continuing to create with wood
• Exploring jesmonite and cyanotype processes

It’s a bit of a rebuild—but it’s also a fresh start in a really good direction.

New Ways I Can Help You (or someone you know)

Over the past several years, I’ve learned a lot about running a creative business—through Etsy, markets, websites, and everything in between.

So I’m now offering 1:1 support (https://www.rustedelementdesign.com/work-with-me) via zoom for artists, small business owners, and anyone else who might need help including:

• Shopify and Square website updates & builds
• Creative business guidance
• Etsy SEO + listing help
• Website review & feedback
• Epoxy resin project guidance
• Beginner-friendly computer help

If you’ve ever felt stuck trying to figure this side of things out, I’d love to help.

You can explore everything in the button below. Feel free to email me if you have questions about any of my new offerings.

Markets & Where to Find Me

I didn’t apply to as many art fairs as usual this year (for obvious reasons), but I’m still getting back out there.

• I’ll be at Alki Beach Art Fair in mid-July
• And I’m planning to vend more regularly at the Ballard Farmers Market once I have new products ready

Check my locations page (https://www.rustedelementdesign.com/locations) any time to see an updated list of events I plan on vending at.

I’m really looking forward to being back out in the community again.

If You Still Love Resin…

If you’ve been working with resin (or have been meaning to try it), I’ll still be selling my remaining epoxy resin supplies for a limited time while I transition into new materials.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone—so this is kind of the last call.

P.S. I’ll also be clearing out my personal resin supplies over the next few months—keep an eye out for that in an upcoming email.

Thank You (really)

If you’ve taken a class, bought something, followed along, or just read these emails—thank you.

This shift wasn’t something I planned, but I’m finding my way through it, and I’m actually feeling really hopeful about what’s ahead.

More soon—and I’ll be back to sharing regularly again.

Jen

In case you’ve been planning on checking out .art studio, this weekend is your last chance! We will close up shop in Lake City at 5pm tomorrow. We will be looking to reopen again sometime in the future but in a different location (if/when we can find an “affordable” commercial lease — semi-laughable in Seattle 😂 but I’m hopeful).

In the meantime, I will continue teaching classes throughout the Seattle area. No more drop-in art will be available until we reopen. I hope those of you who took advantage enjoyed it! 🎨

We have a class 3-5pm today and drop-in art available all day tomorrow during our regular hours, 11:30am-5pm.

A special thanks to the team for assisting with my success, providing this space since November, and for allowing us an extra month in this wonderful space to serve this passionate community.

Be sure to check out the next pop-up in this space. will be opening in April. Give them a follow and check them out once they open!

Onward!

Pop-up ends Sunday, but classes will continue around Seattle.

Hi friends,

This is it (for real!) — our final weekend at The Pour Haus Art Studio, and our last day is this Sunday, 3/22/26.

It’s been such a special few months in this space, and I’m so grateful for everyone who has come in to create, shop, and support this little pop-up. If you’ve been meaning to stop by one more time, this is your moment.

Last Chance Classes

Last Chance Classes

There are still a couple opportunities to get a few resin projects in at The Pour Haus:

What’s Next

While The Pour Haus chapter is coming to a close, classes are not ending here.

I’m currently working on my next schedule and will be offering classes at various locations around Seattle over the next few months.

Stay tuned — I’ll be sharing new dates very soon. Save the link below to check-in on occasion for class updates.

Ballard Farmers Market

If you enjoy finding me at the markets, I’ll be back at the Ballard Farmers Market this Sunday (3/22) while Sebio holds it down at the shop.

I’ll post my exact location on Instagram that morning — come say hi!

Studio Fixtures for Sale

As we move out, I’ll be listing some of the studio furniture on Facebook Marketplace — including:

• Retail fixtures
• A desk
• A few accent chairs

If you (or someone you know) might be interested, feel free to reply to this email or stop by before Sunday. I’m happy to share pricing before everything goes live.

A Final Thank You

I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the Seattle Restored team. This entire experience wouldn’t have been possible without their support, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to bring The Pour Haus to life in this space.

Thank you again for being part of this journey. This space was built on community, creativity, and a lot of heart — and I’m so excited for what’s next.

Hope to see you one more time before we close on Sunday. 💛

We’re Open Today — Come Create!

Hi friends,

We're not usually open on Presidents Day, but after a few requests for drop-in art time, I decided to open the studio today from 10am–2pm-ish (flexible if more time is needed).

If you’re a past epoxy resin student and have been wanting to come back in to create, refresh your skills, or finally try that idea you’ve been thinking about — today’s a great day to pop in. Thursday, 2/19 12-8pm is your last chance before we close.

You’re welcome to use the space, equipment, and supplies. There’s plenty of room, so no need to worry about us filling up — just swing by!

Drop-in pricing is listed below, and you can also check the drop-in calendar if you prefer to plan ahead.

Our Final Weekend to Create Together

Hi friends,

We’re heading into our final days at The Pour Haus Art Studio. This weekend will be our last full weekend, and our final day is 2/19 during the Lake City Art Walk (5–8pm).

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shopped, or took a class. This pop-up was such a special opportunity made possible by Seattle Restored, and I learned so much while testing this concept. I don’t have solid plans for what’s next just yet — but I promise to share updates when I do.

For now, let’s make the most of these final days together 💙

Here’s what’s happening this week:

2/12 – No-Questions-Asked Epoxy Resin Class (https://thepourhaus.as.me/no-questions)
A beginner-friendly epoxy resin tray class offered at a reduced rate to increase accessibility. No explanations needed — just a welcoming space to create. All supplies included.

2/14 – Valentine’s Edition Epoxy Resin Tray Class (https://thepourhaus.as.me/valentine)
Celebrate Valentine’s weekend with a hands-on resin tray workshop. Choose a rectangle tray or swap for a limited heart-shaped tray. One ticket = one project, with the option to add a second person to work together at no extra cost. This class is for everyone — solos, friends, couples, Galentines — all are welcome. All supplies included.

2/15 – Epoxy Resin Side Table Class (https://thepourhaus.as.me/sidetable)
Create a functional resin side table in this elevated workshop. Students will design and pour epoxy onto a pre-made round table, choosing either layered artist resin or a single pour using casting resin (up to 1"). A great option if you’ve been wanting to try something a little bigger before we close.

2/15 – Epoxy Resin Tray Class (https://thepourhaus.as.me/epoxy-resin-serving-tray)
Prefer to keep it classic? Join the rectangle tray workshop and create a custom resin serving tray while learning mixing, pigment blending, and heat techniques. A perfect introduction to epoxy resin or a chance to pour one more piece before our final week wraps up.

2/12-2/19 Epoxy Resin Alumni — Last Chance to Come Create (https://thepourhaus.as.me/1hrdropinresinart)
If you’re an epoxy resin alum and just want to come in and create, check out our drop-in art availability and pricing below. You’re welcome to drop in without paying in advance, but booking ahead helps reserve your spot — especially if you’d like me to be there to offer reminders, refreshers, and support.

Our Final Day – 2/19
Join us for our final day at The Pour Haus on Thursday, 2/19, open 12–8pm, with Lake City Art Walk from 5–8pm.

We’ll have light snacks and rosé in the evening to toast this chapter together. Be sure to stop by our Memory Wall and leave a note, favorite moment, or idea for what should come next.

It’s also a final chance to shop handmade goods from the incredible artists who helped make this space special:

• Laura Ruuska – Seattle Stitchery (https://seattlestitchery.com/) (beautiful textile goods - boxy bags (https://seattlestitchery.com/collections/boxy-bags) )
• Kim Sparks – Northwest Sparks (https://www.northwestsparks.com/) (candles that made the shop smell amazing)
• Penny Russell (my third mom) – Penny on the Hill (https://pennyonthehill.com/) (heartfelt crocheted hats and scarves)
• Lisa Anderson – Lisa A Design (https://lisaadesign.com/) (watercolor prints and marbled ornaments)
• Mike Little (hand-turned wood pieces + pen-turning classes - email to inquire)

And a special thank you to Rosalie Gale of Ugly Baby (https://uglybaby.shop/) , who brought so much creative energy to The Pour Haus Art Studio through her Punch Needle Pet Portraits and Gelli Printing classes (https://uglybaby.shop/pages/ugly-baby-calendar) .

We’re also deeply grateful to Geraldine Le Calvez (https://www.geraldinelecalvez.com/) for allowing us to showcase her stunning acrylic-on-lichen paintings in our shop. While her work has already been removed from the space, her presence here was truly special, and we’re thankful she was part of this chapter.

Come say goodbye, write on the wall, and help us close this space with gratitude.

Thank you!
Thank you for being awesome, supportive, and willing to try something new with me. This space was built around connection and creativity — and it truly became what it was because of you. Every class taken, every small purchase, every kind word meant more than you know.

A heartfelt thank you as well to the city-run program Seattle Restored (https://seattlerestored.org/) for giving me the opportunity to test and grow this studio concept. Their support made this chapter possible. The next cohort will be launching soon — be sure to check their website for pop-up updates, events (https://seattlerestored.org/explore/events/) , locations (https://seattlerestored.org/explore/locations/) , and to join their digital passport program (https://seattlerestored.org/explore/passport/) (you can enter to win great prizes when visiting participating locations).

I’m walking away from this chapter deeply grateful — and excited for whatever comes next. 💙
