Annie's Art and Frame Independently owned and uniquely Ballard since 1990.

Like the dynamic neighborhood we call home, Annie's Art and Frame hasn't stopped growing, changing, and evolving since day one. What started out as a frame and poster shop in 1990 has grown into something more akin to an interactive art gallery. We still frame posters, but now we've also got unique Seattle-made gifts, a letterpress studio, and we even do installations. We're known for our service,

and with a staff of artists and musicians, we can speak to the creativity and the craftsmanship that go into every item and every service we provide.

For the month of May our featured artist is the incredibly talented , aka Andrew Wicklund. As a designer, illustrator, and artist, Andrew is a multifaceted creator whose work explores an expansive range of style, subject, and genre. In addition to his work as a fine artist, he is a prolific graphic designer with an impressive portfolio.

This adorable Paddington sweater is a precious family heirloom, hand-knit by the client’s grandmother. The dark walnut Cranbrook shadowbox frame by was the perfect choice for a classic, timeless look. We carefully sew-mounted it to a heather tan fabric mat to complement the texture of the knitting. The client was kind enough to share some backstory on this incredible piece:

“Growing up my Nanny knit all of my sweaters. When going through some old bins of sweaters she had made I found Paddington.
Paddington is a favorite character in our home, and so framing this is both a chance to remember and celebrate Nanny and all the beautiful things she created, while also remembering to be kind and that it’s okay to make mistakes. I do also really love orange marmalade!”
