Happy Birthday to the one and only Ernest Servantes! 🎉
To many, he’s the “Pope of BBQ,” an award-winning pitmaster, businessman, and someone whose impact on Seguin — especially Downtown Seguin — is hard to put into words.
But to us, the titles and accolades only tell a small part of who Ernest is.
He’s a friend, a confidant, a sounding board, and one of the greatest champions of Southern Traditions. He’s someone I can go to for advice, someone who will give me his honest opinion, talk through an idea, share what he’s learned along the way, and genuinely wants to see us succeed. And yes, he’s also one of our most loyal shoppers. 🤍
There are people who support your business by shopping with you, and then there are people who support you — who believe in what you’re building and make sure you know they’re in your corner. Ernest has been that person for me and for Southern Traditions from the very beginning.
I can say without hesitation that I would not have this business or this location without him. His belief in me and what I wanted to create opened a door that changed so much for us, and his support certainly didn’t stop there.
What he has done for Downtown Seguin is incredible, but I feel especially blessed for everything he has done for us personally. Having someone with his experience and wisdom in your corner — someone you can trust, learn from, laugh with, and call a true friend — is something I will never take for granted.
