I’m Dieynaba.
There may be many things that define who we are. For me, being a mother always comes first. Nothing brings me more pride than being mom to my precious little girl.
I am also a Soldier, and it is an opportunity that has allowed me to meet and share experiences with people from all over the world. There is so much to learn about people, and so much to appreciate about other cultures! It is enriching to learn about the subtleties that make people who they are.
I came to the United States in 2013 from Senegal. There are many things I’m grateful for living in the US, but being away from my birthplace has given me a new appreciation for my roots and my culture. I created Africanistic to share that culture with the world, to showcase the beautiful people of Senegal and their incredible craftsmanship.
Every item on the site was made by hand in Senegal by artisans who are driven by their passion, and was carefully curated to offer you the best glimpse at what makes Senegal such a culturally rich place. Take a little piece of my home with you. I do hope that, by doing so, you will feel the same joy I feel when I get exposed to a new culture.
