this little vintage entry dresser got me feelin’ some type of way 🤍

is this how one ‘reels’?! we all know IG prefers reels to static posts right now, so don’t mind me over here trying to learn how to do this 🤪

anyways, if you’ve been following me for a bit, you know this dresser is about to get a facelift! but, i couldn’t resist styling her up for a good “before/after” transformation 🥰 she’ll be getting a nice & neutral strip down & hopefully losing the farmhouse look!

and before anyone gets too nit picky - i KNOW she’s too big for the space. but i’m in love, i’m in love, & i don’t care who knows it!! 🥺🤍

welcome to my favorite spot in our lil apartment 🤍🪴

i shared last week why i currently dislike our bedroom, so now let’s give some LOVE & appreciation to a spot i really do adore ~ this cozy reading corner 🥰

i am a huge bibliophile, so having a cozy reading spot is a non-negotiable for me. we don’t have a ton of space in our apartment, so until i’m able to have a library/study (such a dream), this side of our sectional in the corner of our living room is my designated “curl up and read” spot ✨

there’s honestly nothing i love more than curling up in a bunch of pillows, with a cozy blanket & a candle lit, and losing a few hours to a good book 🥰🤓📚

let’s hear it for… a rarely seen view of the bedroom, because i strongly dislike our bedroom set. 🥴 let me explain why…!

if you work with me, you learn quickly that style discovery is (i think) the most important piece of the puzzle. why? because i know from my OWN experience that discovering a style that is authentic to you, where you feel comfortable and at home, & is still beautiful & functional, can be really overwhelming - and i know it’s easy to fall into the trap of designing a space how you THINK it should be designed, and not how you truly want it to look & feel.

when Chase and i moved into our apartment a few years ago, i made the mistake of trying to match our furniture, decor, and general style to the existing apartment (veeeerrrry dark wood floors, cabinetry, etc), rather than staying true to my style, which is much lighter. as a result, i am sooo sick of our current furniture - and Chase is sooo sick of me begging to buy new stuff before we buy a house… 😅

long story short, do as i say, not as i do 😋 my own experience with being stuck in a space that looks good but isn’t authentically me, is why it’s my top priority to help you discover your style before we dig into ANY design boards or product recommendations!

once i get my blog up & running, one of my first posts will be about style discovery - so stay tuned! I’m the meantime, next week, i’ll be sharing my design board for where i want our bedroom to end up! (spoiler alert: it looks nothing like this.. at ALL) 🤍

2022 life update 🤍

so many new faces around here! as of the start of the year, i’ve officially kicked off this little passion project of mine, & i cannot wait to bring you all along!

so, to (re)introduce myself ~ my name is alexis, & i’m a 25-year-old data analyst, spin instructor, & the face behind anddesignco! i live southwest of minneapolis, mn, with my fiancé (chase), dog (padfoot), & cat (roxy). 🤍

i have had a passion for design for as long as i can remember. i was going to study design in college, until i took AP psych 🤓 but, after earning my bachelor’s & master’s degrees, i felt like my creative passion was missing. couple that with wfh and being in my@space 24/7 during covid (still am!), & i turned my attention to curating a more authentic home.

since then, i’ve learned a LOT about my own style, diy + building furniture, & finally started working with others to put together spaces that are functional, beautiful, and feel authentic to them. this is a passion that has brought me so much joy, and i cannot wait to see where it takes me. 🤍

my 2022 goals for this page are:
- redo our master bedroom (more on this soon!)
- establish this lil passion project as a real business with YOUR help!!
- complete 6 diy projects

No fireplace? No problem!! (Okay, maybe emotional problems - but that’s it)

I so, SO wish we had a fireplace with a beautiful mantle for me to style & hang stockings from… but alas, we live in an apartment. 🥲

Last year, I hung our stockings from our tv stand (go check out some of my older photos - and the horribly dark tv stand we had🥴)… it did the trick, but I wanted something a little different this year… 🤔

Pair that with this HUGE blank wall, which I’ve NEVER, in our two years in this apartment, found something that I liked enough to hang here… and you get - a floating garland “mantle”! 😋

I actually love it - and even Chase approves! 🤩 What do you think?! 🤍

surprise - i’m back! 🤍

it’s been a while (ahem, nearly a year) since i tended to this passion project dream of mine, but i have been working on some truly exciting things for 2022 & figured now was as good a time as ever to return. ☺️

and, what better time than the approaching new year to announce the new me! well, same me - but new branding! 😋 i am so excited to announce that [Design by Alexis] has rebranded ~ this little space of mine is now known as .co.

when brainstorming this rebrand, i truly sought to curate a name/brand that reflects me + my essence/energy, and my belief that how you choose to style + enjoy your living space isn’t an “either/or”, it’s an “and”. In my opinion, the most beautiful, cozy, lived-in spaces are those that are functional AND beautiful, livable AND stylish. AND (no pun intended), come September 2022, my initials will literally be “AND”. 👰🏻‍♀️ so, what better way to make this business reflect ✨me✨ than to give it my name/initials? 🤍 (disregard the inflated ego and focus on the clever depth, please and thank you! 🤪)

anyways, i am so, SO excited to be diving back in to this dream of mine - and cannot wait to bring you along with me! stay tuned for more on the upcoming project i’ve begun ~ i’ll share more in the coming days, weeks, & months… as well as sharing how i’ve continued to refresh + style my own space (hint: my style has changed a LOT since my winter 2020 posts!) 🤍
