I just heard that High Cotton Gin wa s "given" $20,000 at one time by the EDC. I had to laugh at that! We offered to buy the place for $20,000 if the city (or EDC) would run the electricity, water, sewer, and cover the four 4 big holes in the walls and fill all the wide holes in the floor! They calculated it would cost them $40,000 to do what we wanted --- so they instead set aside $20,000 for US to use to accomplish all those things. Oh yeah, I forgot cutting down a dozen or more steel post buried in the concrete! We did all the above only by putting in at least that much of our own money. So, if that was a GIFT I will run the next time I hear that word!
So, it doesn't seem to matter how much money and thousands of hours of labor we put in, the EDC has something BETTER in mind. They did offer to sell us the building and HALF the property for almost as much as the whole property was worth. Such a deal!

Even though we had an agreement to buy the Gin property from the former EDC board. The new EDC board evidently has other plans to the gin property which doesn't include High Cotton gin days. However, they've offered to sell us HALF the property for almost as much as the whole property originally was! It saddens us that we have not been able to reach an agreement leaving the future of High Cotton Gin Days in suspense. We appreciate all the support we've received during this time since it would be a shame to lose a business intended to bring in business for Shamrock.😞

Sadly because of the Corona virus, we will not open the Gin the second weekend in April. We will really miss seeing all of you, but we want y'all to be safe.

High Cotton Days are getting closer!

Vendors are starting to bring in items for their booths. We welcome all who have a desire to offer what they don’t want to others who do! Come by and look us over. We have plenty of space both inside the building and 3.7 acres outside for vendors and displays. Come one, come all.

New vendors are joining us so we now have a diverse group offering many things you didn’t know you needed. Come by and browse, come by and buy all those things beckoning you to take them home with you.
