I noticed this while doing deliveries. It's all over town! Spread the word so we can do better.
After all the recent rain, many lawns across Shelbyville are ready for a fresh cut.
As you're mowing this week, please take a moment to keep grass clippings out of the street and away from storm drains.
Unlike sanitary sewers, storm drains flow directly to local creeks and waterways. When grass clippings wash into the storm sewer system, they can contribute to clogged drains, localized flooding, and water quality issues.
The good news? It's an easy fix.
β Mulch clippings back into your lawn
β Sweep or blow clippings back onto the grass
β Bag or compost excess material
A few extra seconds can help keep our streets draining properly and our waterways cleaner for everyone.
Thank you for doing your part to keep Shelbyville looking its best.
