Humanity: I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately. I’ve beenfeeling some strange whispers of ancient ancestors, of lost wisdom as I ponder all of this fear and anger that is driven by the rhetoric of those looking to consolidate all the resources for themselves, at the expense of all of us and the planet. I’m hoping there can be a collective remembering of the wisdom that was stamped out by those who’ve been wanting to exert control for centuries. Who RATM sang about, and many others. As an aside, I despise that F’ing racists have/are co-opting Nordic history for their own feeble causes, while not realizing that so much of it is steeped in women being leaders, healers, gods, and warriors. And the ancient Nordics are not unique in this, I’m learning that most cultures have suffered this erasing/silencing, and most with a much worse fate. I don’t want to speak for them, but there is an abundance of heartbreaking history out there.
Perhaps this is the last attempts at this way of humanity by those with the power, and perhaps we can foster a way that may feel new but is actually ancient. Maybe we can finally learn from history? I know that’s idealism at its finest and perhaps most delusional.
The companies doing mass layoff and replacing humans with ai need to be paying into a universal basic income en masse. The billionaires need to be taxed like the rest of us, and the era of tax shelters needs to come to an end. How? Not sure, but as an apocaloptimist, I feel it’s possible.
In the meantime, I’ll be here, listening to the marginalized stories, processing reality, trying to support if I can, while trying to keep afloat a small Nordic design, local art & vintage shop that offers intentional interior design services, (I’m finding more and more joy in design projects as of late). Oh and all of this, while trying my damnedest to stay healthy and not let MBC take me out. No pressure.
Why am I sharing this? Let me be a reminder that we are all going through something, maybe we can be kinder and more thoughtful to ourselves, and hold the tyrants accountable in this world of chaos. If I can help you find a moment of serenity, in any small way, it will make my day.
