Woven by hand. Composed by memory. Made in the mountains of southern Iran.

This is a Persian Gabbeh. 5'10" x 8'7". 100% hand-carded wool. Hand-knotted by weavers in the Zagros mountains of southern Iran, working in one of the oldest continuous weaving traditions in the world.

A short lesson on why a Persian Gabbeh is unlike any other rug you have ever seen.

The word "Gabbeh" means natural, raw, or unfinished in Persian. It refers to a way of weaving that predates every formal rug workshop in Persia. Gabbeh weaving originates with the nomadic Qashqai and Lori tribes of the Zagros mountains, who wove rugs for their own tents and daily life long before Persian rugs became known to the wider world. Gabbeh weavers do not work from pattern grids the way city weavers do. They compose the entire rug freehand as they weave, drawing images from the world around them and from generations of tribal design memory.

The imagery on this piece is Gabbeh in its purest form. Tree of life motifs in ivory, coral, gold, and sage scattered across a deep navy field. Small stylized shapes anchoring each corner. A wide saffron-gold border carrying the same tribal vocabulary around the entire rug. The composition is asymmetrical, personal, and completely one of a kind. No other Gabbeh in the world has this exact arrangement.

A lot of people do not realize that most rug stores do not actually do rug work. They sell rugs and ship cleaning out. They sell rugs and ship repair out. The customer never knows.

We built the gallery the opposite way. If you walk into our 8,000 square foot showroom in Shrewsbury on any given day, you will see rugs for sale, you will see rugs waiting for repair, and you will see rugs drying from a wash. All in one building. All handled by our in-house team.

That is honestly what we are after most days. Rugs cleaned properly, with pre-wash dusting, full-immersion hand washing, wool-safe shampoo in a cold-water bath, controlled-environment drying, and final grooming before return. Repairs done by hand, in-house, matched carefully to the original wool. Staff who greet every customer the way we would want to be greeted at the counter of a family business. No pressure. No unnecessary add-ons. Just the work, done well.

Some rugs are decorative. This one is engineered.

Hand-woven Pakistani Bidjar. 9'1" x 11'9". Deep navy field. Rust red border. 100% hand-carded wool. Hand-knotted in one of the most technically demanding weaving traditions in the world.

A short lesson on why Bidjars stand alone in the Persian rug family, because this piece deserves the context.

Bidjar weaving originates in the Kurdish region of northwest Iran, in and around the town of Bidjar. The technique that makes a Bidjar a Bidjar is a specific approach to construction. The wool is wet-packed while the rug is being woven, and the weft threads are beaten down with unusual force between every row of knots. The result is a rug so dense, so tightly packed, and so structurally solid that in the trade it is known as the "iron rug of Persia." Bidjars are famous for lasting generations of daily use without losing their foundation, and old dealer lore says a well-cared-for Bidjar has been rolled and unrolled for over a hundred years and still lays flat.

That reputation is not marketing. It is what the weave actually does.
