Thinking ahead is a great life skill. We think ahead to plan meals so we get the right groceries. We think ahead so we can book the airline tickets for our vacation. The list could go on and on. One thing I see when it comes to homes is that people aren't always wanting to think ahead.

There’s value in looking at your home and asking whether it will continue to work well for you or for someone you love in the years ahead.

Bathrooms are a great example.

Maybe stepping over the side of your bathtub isn’t an issue today. But what about several years from now? Replacing a traditional tub with a walk-in shower or an option with a door for easier entry and exit can make the space easier and safer to use while still creating a bathroom you love.

Good morning, I'm glad to see Saturday this week.

Our schedules have been a little crazy lately and it got me thinking how much I love the fact that we can automate things we use all the time to just arrive, I don't even have to think about it. Like my favorite laundry detergent, auto-ship. My must-haves from Just Ingredients that I drink every day, auto-ship. You get the idea. It saves me so much mental energy to just set that all up and not think about it again. It's not that I'm buying a ton of extras, I'm simply automating the things I will buy no matter what.

Do I love a kitchen island? Absolutely! Heck, I even love a tropical island! 🌴 HA!

But here's the thing. Not every kitchen needs an island.

If you don't have the space, adding one can actually make your kitchen feel smaller and harder to navigate.

And there are other options! I've seen some fantastic butcher block carts that you can roll into place when you need extra space for meal prepping, baking or whatever you're working on. Then roll them out of the way when you're done!

The goal isn't to squeeze an island into your kitchen just because everyone else has one. It's to create a kitchen that works for YOU.

And that's exactly why I love our in-home consultations! We can look at your space, talk through how you use it and find solutions that make sense for your home.
