on June 14, the United States, commemorates the adoption of the American flag on June 14, 1777, by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress. This date also marks the celebration of the U.S. Army's birthday. The holiday was officially recognized when President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1916, designating June 14 as Flag Day. Later, in 1949, National Flag Day was formally established by an Act of Congress on August 3. Today our flag stands as a symbol of freedom. The 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies and the 50 white stars represent the 50 States of America.
