UPDATE: SOLD :)

Hey Bobilu friends. This is kind of random- but if anyone needs a starter sewing machine for themselves or maybe a young person wanting to learn to sew, I’ve decided to let my OG machine from the 1970s go to someone new. I haven’t used it in probably a decade, but I tested it out today and it seems to work fine. It needs a good scrubbing and dusting from being in storage. I feel like it’s a great very basic machine, probably not worth a lot but sewing machines generally last forever.

I’ll even give you a quick tutorial on how to thread the machine and get sewing 🙂 just LMK. It will go to st vinnies here in SF if nobody wants it 🤷‍♀️

Okay, another quickie vintage moment. A few years ago at the end of the season I bought this bag of acrylic ornaments from the 1990s. Someone’s collection, I suppose. They were originally marked $1 each and were in a ziplock bag marked $3 for all. I never really used them because they didn’t show up well on my main tree. But I was looking for something simple for my basement white birch tree and I think these are so cute! Hard to photograph however 😊 I wonder what other new-to-me things I have in storage? 🤔

Hi friends! Just checking in to say Happy Thanksgiving weekend - I hope you are enjoying some rest and maybe a bit of holiday thrifting for vintage goodies. I mostly shopped from my basement stash this year, but somehow I always find ways to switch things up a bit since I get bored otherwise. We have the most wonderful perfect snow covering now which I hope sticks around in December. I don’t love the longest months of winter but I tend to love the first snow of each year. Hoping to go for a little walk in the winter wonderland tomorrow. Be blessed and enjoy the holidays - I’m grateful for you ❤️🎄🙃

How is fall decorating going, friends? It’s not easy when it’s been so warm, but I pulled out the tired petunias and cannas on my back deck last weekend (last slide shows how they looked in summer).

Then I made the silly move to buy a few pumpkins even though the squirrels will eat them as soon as they figure out they are there.

Then I made some grass bundles from the yard for height and stuck a few dried hydrangeas in.

Then this morning I remembered that last fall I thrifted a big bunch of fake florals that came in a bundle. So I ripped it apart and stuck some in to fill in the gaps. The fakery actually seems good to add that needed height and pop of color.

And suddenly, it’s October! Well, almost 🍂🍁🍂

UPDATE FOR DAY 2: Hey friends, as I have taken stock of my remaining goods for today's garage sale, I realize that so. many. things. were purchased yesterday that today might not be as fun for you to shop today. BUT there are still treasures to be had...so, as I end this journey and to thank all of you for the fun chats about vintage and sharing our collective memories,

EVERYTHING REMAINING IS FREE.

Please stop over anytime today to keep these items from going to the landfill (although they will go to St Vincent De Paul Thrift Store first).

✨ Big news, friends: Bobilu Vintage is closing (at least for now). ✨

Before I start to pack it all away, I want to give some well-loved treasures a chance to find their new homes.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be hosting a couple garage sale–style days at my home: pottery, linens, artwork, furniture + more. Tables will be marked at $1, $2, $5, $10 — and a few “make me an offer” pieces too.

Since 2019, I’ve been sourcing unique vintage items and rescuing things from trash piles and dusty corners. I’ve loved it, but it’s time to slow down and enjoy a more minimal aesthetic (if you’re a reseller, you know what I mean). So keep a watch here and I’ll post dates starting after the Labor Day weekend. 💫
