🚨WOW: Dolly Parton tried to withdraw from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because she thought an actual rock musician deserved the spot more.

When Parton was nominated in 2022, she publicly asked to bow out, explaining that she did not feel she had "earned that right" and worried her nomination might take votes from artists who had devoted their lives to rock. The Hall declined to remove her, explaining that induction recognized musical influence beyond strict genre boundaries. She was ultimately elected.

Dolly accepted, but apparently decided there was only one proper response.

She would earn it.

In 2023, at 77, she released Rockstar, the first full rock album of her career. The enormous 30-track project featured Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett and other rock legends. Parton later explained that her Hall of Fame induction was what finally pushed her to make it.

Most people celebrate getting into a Hall of Fame.

Bob Barker spent decades entertaining television audiences, but his greatest legacy may be the countless animals he helped throughout his life.

The beloved host of The Price Is Right became one of television’s most recognizable advocates for animals. For 35 years, he ended the show with a simple reminder for viewers to have their pets spayed or neutered—a message that became synonymous with Barker himself.

He once said, "Nothing gives me quite so much joy as when people tell me they've had their pets spayed or neutered.”

But he didn’t just talk about animal welfare. Barker put his own fortune behind the cause. He founded the DJ&T Foundation with $10 million to help fund free and low-cost spay and neuter programs, animal rescue efforts and other animal welfare initiatives.

He also donated millions to animal organizations and educational programs, including more than $2 million to PETA and $5 million to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. His support helped fund efforts ranging from animal protection programs to conservation work.

Barker’s commitment to animals even influenced his career. In 1987, he stepped down as host of the Miss Universe pageant after organizers refused to stop awarding fur coats as prizes.

When Barker died in August 2023 at age 99, he continued his lifelong mission of helping animals. The bulk of his remaining $70 million estate was left to animal welfare and military charities, ensuring that his passion for helping animals would continue beyond his lifetime.

A longtime friend said his generosity “shouldn't come as a surprise,” because Barker’s love for animals was well known throughout his life. Barker did not have children. From his television sign-off to the millions of dollars he donated, he spent decades using his voice and his fortune to make a difference.

Bob Barker may be gone, but his message—and his commitment to animals—continues to live on. 🐾💛
