Just plugging away today on a few estimates and tracking shipments on client orders. Feels good to be meeting free today to just put on some good music and dive into a floor plan.

I don’t really subscribe to the hustle “I am so busy” culture but do enjoy enough tasks to keep my mind engaged and ever curious. Plus, checking off items as complete on my to-do list feels like getting a gold star. 🌟

This week had a lot of windshield time but its my favorite time of the year to drive across the prairie to study the way the colors of the landscape are changing in the September light.

Having studied color theory, it never amazes me how nature, in any season or weather, makes the most beautiful color palettes. And of course, this week had all the yellows!

Grateful for the miles because I got to check out two new projects. Both very different in scope and style but each speak to me because of the impact they could make for both families.

I told a friend that one of them would be my . Seriously. 1970s mid-century with original details, including the OG wool plaid carpet in the lower level. AND the client wants to embrace the home’s era while updating their kitchen. .

And to sum up a great trip, I got to check out the cutest new boutique in Pierre, , and picked myself up a new plant with a vintage pot. Then, my husband’s grandparents gifted me my dream Pyrex stacking bowl set. The spring colors collection! You know the one, that giant yellow bowl with nesting bowls in blue, green, and red. Best part, I swear it hasn’t been used in the past 70 years. They are pristine. 🤩

Do you plan to go to the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire Parade of Homes this weekend or next? Visiting the homes on display can really help inspire your next remodel or build.

We aren’t on the tour this year but still love to see what other local designers and builders are creating from the ground up.

Including an interior designer from the beginning ensures your project is personalized to you.

However, if you already received your plans, we can review them to make sure it will work for your needs. Gotta make sure that dining table for 10+ will fit and that you get a kitchen that is functionally gorgeous.

Happy National Dog Day!

Do you have a furry pup that takes up the entire bed, dribbles water on the kitchen floor, and is always looking for every ounce of attention that they can get? Yeah, us too!

Meet the pups of Bright Nests:

Scout is Jessica’s seven year old rescue that is the softest pup ever. He is believed to be a cattle dog boxer with the underbite to confirm it. He is a lug all day until it’s time for an adventure and then he has to take the lead, truly fitting of his name!

Kadence is Alisha's first pup. She is an eight-year-old Vizsla with so much energy! Even in her older age, she still has the energy of a puppy. She is the most loving, caring, and sassy pup. If you're ever around her, you will have to have zero personal space issues.

Banks is Alisha's second pup. He is a one-year-old German Shepard with so much personality. Pestering his sister, Kadence, is his favorite daily activity. Even though he is 100% a puppy with all of the puppy energy, he is a big lug who just wants hours of scratches behind his ears!

It's ! Sometimes we all just need that little reminder to step back and take time for ourselves, don't we?! Draw yourself a bath, curl up with a book, or go for a stroll. Find that space that speaks to you, and take it all in.

Our tip this week is to define that spot for you and add a bit of decor, like a wooden bath caddy with a beautiful glass container that you fill with your favorite bath salts.

Just the simple act of transferring your favorite products to different containers and minimizing branding can eliminate visual noise and clutter, which in turn can help you relax more.

Is anyone else's week already feeling flat-out, to the max?

We started our Monday with a lighting install bright and then sent out some presentations for a primary bedroom's new furnishings and accent wall.

On the board for the rest of the week is finishing up a presentation for a great room with amazing views.

Busy, yes, but we really wouldn't have it any other way!

There is strong evidence that your environment is closely linked to your well-being. We all have a need for a place that is called home.

It should be a place of centering and retreat. More than just a place to lay your head at night, but somewhere to relax, entertain, learn, and feel secure.

Wherever you find your light, may it bring joy, health, and peace.

Welcome! It's now my turn for an introduction (Jessica).

I recently transplanted to Sioux Falls via the Black Hills and am our studio's other Co-Founder and Interior Designer.

Five unique facts about me:

1. Total sweet tooth. Give me all the Haribo gummies.

2. I can never remember the names of actors, movies, bands, or song lyrics. Not helpful for trivia teams.

3. If I were a tree, I would be a quaking aspen. Love them so much that I got married in a grove of them!

4. I am a certified Permaculturist.

5. A 1000+ jigsaw puzzle 🧩, to me, is relaxing. To make it more challenging, I refuse to look at the box.

If anyone loves colorful, illustrated puzzles and is up for an exchange club, DM me! Always looking for more, even if my game closet is full.

My husband, Jared keeps me grounded, and our rescue pup, Scout, makes sure I make it out into nature to reset. They are my favorite, favorites.
