If you love discovering indie yarn, I wanted to share something with you šŸ¤

One of the goals behind Skein & Co was to create a space where you can actually browse—not just scroll and hope something shows up.

A place to explore different makers, yarns, and styles in a more intentional way.

It’s still growing, but there’s already so much to discover:

If you love indie yarn… this is for you šŸ¤

One of the things we kept coming back to while building Skein & Co was how different it feels to browse when you’re not relying on an algorithm.

Not just scrolling and hoping something catches your eye…
but being able to slow down, explore, and actually see what’s there.

Different makers.
Different yarns.
Different stories.

It’s still growing, and that’s part of what makes it special.

Why we started Skein & Co šŸ¤

Over time, I kept noticing the same thing—
so many incredibly talented indie dyers and fiber makers doing beautiful work…
and still struggling to be seen.

Not because the work wasn’t good.
But because the systems around them weren’t built for small makers.

Skein & Co was created as a response to that.

A quieter, more intentional space where indie fiber can be discovered and supported.

I shared more about the story behind it here:

We’re live šŸ¤

After a lot of behind-the-scenes work, we’ve officially launched:
šŸ‘‰ Skein & Co

It’s a curated marketplace for indie yarn and fiber—created to make it easier to discover and support small makers.

I shared more about why we built it here:

After finishing my first sashiko piece last week, I’m starting again—but with a few small changes.

This time, I’m making a simple greetings card and using checked fabric so I don’t have to mark the pattern (which was the hardest part for me last time).

It already feels like a much more approachable process.

I shared what I’m using and why in this week’s post:

A simple sashiko project plan: what I'm using, what I'm changing, and how I'm approaching a handmade stitched greetings card.

Last week taught me a lot šŸ˜…

Mostly… what not to do.

So this week, I’m starting again—just a little more thoughtfully.

I’m making a small sashiko greetings card using checked fabric (so no pattern marking this time šŸ™Œ) and a few tools I picked up after finishing my first sampler.

It’s a simple project, but it feels like the right next step.

I shared more about what I’m using and why in this week’s post.

I finished my first sashiko sampler this week—and it didn’t go quite the way I expected.

I had to restart the pattern three times, the fabric made marking difficult, and the stitching felt awkward at first.

But once I found a rhythm, everything started to come together.

It ended up being a really enjoyable process, even the parts that didn’t work the first time.

I shared what I learned (and what I’ll be doing differently next time) in this week’s post:

If you’ve ever tried sashiko—or any kind of slow stitching—I’d love to hear how it felt for you.

I had to start this sampler three times before it finally worked.

The fabric was hard to mark.
My spacing was off.
The stitching felt awkward at first.

But somewhere around the halfway point, something shifted.

My hands found a rhythm, and the second half came together so much more easily than the first.

This week’s Something New Saturdays is up, and I’m sharing everything I learned from my first sashiko project—what worked, what didn’t, and what I’ll be changing next time.

It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough to begin.

The Hearthside Mitts are ready for testing šŸ¤

This design has taken a bit of time to come together, especially in the details, but it’s now ready to be shared.

I’m opening a small round of testers and would love to invite you to apply.

Testing will run for approximately 2–3 weeks.

This is the stage where a design starts to feel real.

After a bit of reworking—especially around the thumb gusset—the fit is finally settling into place and everything is coming together.

There’s still a little finishing left, but I’ll be opening this up for testing tomorrow šŸ¤
