Today's Feature is a large, 12 1/2 inch, hand-painted porcelain pitcher with floral motifs.

Porcelain pitchers with hand-painted floral designs were popular decorative and functional items during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly in the Art Nouveau and Aesthetic movements. The detailed floral painting, especially roses, was a common motif, reflecting a fascination with nature and romanticism.

Techniques like Moriage, characterized by the raised enamel dots you see, were used to add texture and dimension to porcelain. While Moriage is distinctly Japanese, similar decorative styles were adopted or emulated by European manufacturers.
