There are countless color combinations for both patterns in our Fall Makealong. It's so hard to choose (I think at least 3 of the Saugerties combos I was convinced at some point would be the one I choose for my own... we'll see which one prevails!) Hopefully this gives you inspiration, not indecision. We can't wait to see what everyone chooses! Both patterns call for a DK weight yarn so our shop picks are Scout and Patagonia.

If you attended our reopening celebration last week you probably saw the "Guess the Fiber Contents" contest. The results are in: we had 3 people who got numbers 1 - 8 completely correct! The bonus was tricky, but one person was the closest so they're our winner! This person has already been notified to receive their prize. Congrats to the winner and to everyone who participated! Was it harder than you thought it'd be? There were a couple tricky ones for sure, but it was all fun and I can't wait to do it again at our next event (maybe LYS day next year?!)

Thank you to everyone who came out for our grand reopening celebration! It was a really fun day that I'll cherish for years to come. Big shout out to all the participants in our chopstick knitting and DIY crochet competitions - I was very impressed with every one of you! I think we'll have to make a tradition out of some of these games. Speaking of games, if you're wondering about the results of the "Guess the Fiber Content" competition, you haven't missed anything! I'm still tallying up the results and will post soon when we have a winner. Thank you again for a memorable and special day!

Did you know that August 15th is National Granny Square Day? We LOVE granny squares at The Yarn Maven. They're the ultimate comfort crochet pattern and can be applied to anything: blankets, sweaters, pillow covers, coasters, tapestries, bags, shawls... the list goes on! Plus they're great for using up scrap yarn. What's your favorite granny square project?

Our yarn of the week is: Noro Saiun. Noro was an early pioneer in environmentally conscious yarn manufacturing, emphasizing natural fibers, minimal processing, and lower-impact dyeing long before sustainability became a mainstream concern in the yarn industry. Always inspired by nature, Noro chose to call this line "Saiun" which roughly translates to "the rainbow effect of the mist between glowing clouds". A beautiful concept turned into a stunning line of yarn. We love each individual unique skein - the possibilities with Saiun are endless!

Wow! Thank you all for placing your votes and showing real excitement for our upcoming make along ♥ While the Saugerties Pullover won the majority of the votes, I was really happy to see a swell of enthusiasm for the crochet option. So I asked myself... why not do both?! The fall make along will include both the Saugerties Pullover (knit) and the Granny Pop Pullover (crochet). We'll kick it off on Saturday September 12th and host many sessions until the end of October. More details to come about suggested yarn, color combos, schedule of events, and sign-ups for the more targeted sessions and workshops. For now: pick your project (or decide to do both like me 🙈), buy the pattern, and start thinking about what yarn or colors you'd like to use. I'd love to see you join this season's make along 🧶
